"Fly? Sure. How long for? Eh, not long. A day maximum" Mark said as he continued his inspection of the engines. His concern turned to worry, it was far worse than it looked.
"I'll take it." Eianna said. "We have to start somewhere. Hopefully there's something out there we can scavenge"
"Aye" Mark murmured.
Eianna headed below deck to see what the twins had found.
"Alright, so what have you discovered?" Eianna asked.
The hold of the ship was just as bad inside as it looked from the outside. The walls were missing multiple planks and one of the doors separating two rooms was broken on one hinge, leaving it sitting on an awkward angle.
"It's completely empty down here" Cappa called out from the front.
"Empty?" Eianna asked.
"Well, not completely. There's a crate here of wet explosives" Tina noted.
"Explosives?!" Eianna cried. Something explosive on this worn out ship was not ideal right now"
"I said they were wet. Which makes them completely useless. Could sell them to someone though" Tina replied.
"No ammunition though. Or food" Cappa said.
"We'll make do. I have a bit of cash left for a few meals." Eianna said, heading back up top. Cappa and Tina followed close behind.
"Alright, start her up. Let's head out" Eianna told Mark. He nodded and pulled the cord to start the engines. They spat into life, groaning through a lack of oil they desperately needed.
Eianna took the helm while Cappa and Tina let go of the ropes holding them to the docks. Slowly, but not graciously or majestically, the old ship pulled away from the dock and sailed north through the sky.
"So, what do ya think we'll find first?" Mark asked, making adjustments to the starboard engine.
"Betcha it's a wreckage" Cappa smirked.
"Betcha it's pirates" Tina retorted.
"Betcha it's a wreckage of a pirate ship!" Cappa replied.
"Betcha it's pirates infesting a wreckage!" Tina yelled.
"How much do you want to bet?" Eianna asked.
Both Tina and Cappa looked up at her. Neither of them had much cash to spare. Eianna sighed and laughed lightly.
"Instead of you two arguing, how about you try and get those guns up front working?" She asked. The twins faces lit up at the prospect of weaponry, they raced to the front and began working on the two chainguns.
The ship continued sailing north, heading into the Illum Badlands. The badlands was an archipelago, closely linked together, with rocky mountains rising high into the sky. It was a perfect place for them to start. Either Eianna and her crew would make their early fortunes here or die trying. Pirates were frequent here, assailing the few merchants that passed through heading to and from Papua. It was difficult to salvage destroyed ships though, as most ships would either crash and sink in the dangerous ocean, or get caught on nasty cliffsides. The archipelago was also prone to thick fog during the early winter, right before the snow set in.
"I think I see something up ahead" Eianna called out. Everyone looked forward.
