Chapter #12

Audrey the Green Anaconda

    by: Drakeon Author IconMail Icon
…Female Snake! It has to be with those shiny scales and starry eyes. Yes, you're certain it's a female anaconda. Perfect! You have just the name for her! Audrey. Audrey the green anaconda. Has a nice ring to it. You sit on an upturned bucket (you were using it to renovate your spare bedroom into Audrey's new home) and watch the titanic snake slither around her enclosure. She seems to be quite happy with the extra large space she has now compared to her old lizard tank she came in. She slithers up toward the glass wall you are sitting behind (you installed it to replace the wooden one connecting to the Living Room) and stares at you. If you didn't know any better, you'd say she was smiling at you. She then turns her head to look next to you and spots a big bag with the words "Snake Kibble!" written on it.

You turn your head and follow Audrey's eye-sight and spot the brown food bag. You had bought it (before actually checking what giant snakes eat) off a very shady and cheap website. The description was in broken English and talked about it being able to "Make You Snake Dreams Come to True!" whatever that meant. It was cheap, costing $7.00 and after spending so much in preparation for renovating a whole room for a giant snake, you needed cheap. Now you were stuck with a bag of something that smells like a family of skunks died in it and nowhere to put it.

"You don't want to eat that Audrey, I think it might be radiated in fifteen different ways." You joke. The snake still eyes it up and down as if she could smell it from inside her enclosure. And it's not like you had any more money to go buy her a whole turkey. "Alright, I guess it can't hurt to at least put it in there with you. If you don't eat it, I'll ask my buddy Ben to pick up some rabbits off of his sister's farm for you until we can get you ordered some proper meals, okay?" Audrey watches you pick up the bag and dump it on a big wooden sheet before sliding it through a compartment hidden in the kitchen. Instantly Audrey attacks the pile of smelly, slightly green, soggy kibble. You had been kidding about that radiation thing, but, it really does not look like something a snake, or any other living thing for that matter, should consume. With you feeling slightly guilty about not having any other food source for Audrey to eat, you decide it's time to go to bed. Turning off all the lights not directly connected to Audrey's enclosure, you curl up in your bed and sleep for the night.

------------------------------

Audrey swallowed the last meaty cylinder of kibble. It smelled awful but she hadn't eaten since being handed off to that store clerk at the pet shop a week ago. She wasn't sure how to handle her new owner. They seemed to really care for her. a lot more than the store clerk at least. At least she had been fed this time instead of neglected in the back of a dark corner under a tarp. So far she liked this new owner quite a bit. They seemed to genuinely care for her. She just wished she had been found by her new owner sooner. That pet store was hell on Earth and she had hated every moment of it. But her new human was nice and saved her from her misery. If she were human like them, she would do the same thing for them, she decided. She would help and protect them from their demons and the two would snuggle and stare at each other happily.

Audrey roamed to a corner of her enclosure and began to curl up in preparation for sleeping. She rested her giant head on her massive belly and listened to the gurgle it made as it digested it's contents. Audrey began sleeping, thinking about herself as a human protecting a smaller human from harm. If she had lips, she would have smiled in bliss, unaware of what the Kibble within her body was doing to her. As if somehow reading her thoughts, the kibble set to work making Audrey's dream a reality. As Audrey digested more of the kibble, Her appearance began to shift and change to become slightly more human-like. Her body was still covered in scales, but it began to thicken up, forming a human-like chest and arms in the top half of the snake's body. It left her tail alone, and instead went directly towards her throat and chest to form a voice box and more human-like organs including upgrading her heart, lungs, and spine. Her snakey bottom half was left more or less alone, with the exception of her stomach and digestive system. It was made longer and the acids more fast-acting and deadly. In her more human half, It too received a stomach. Though this stomach couldn't digest, it could mash up food if prompted, like a bird's gizzard.

More of Audrey's body changed all throughout the night. Her brain was made smarter, more intelligent. Her reproductive system had been redone entirely. Her chest now sported two lumps side by side, Audrey's privates shifted higher between her human chest and snake tail. It also changed to be much deeper and larger than normal. Her nervous system extended and was introduced to a new body with new organs. All the while, Audrey slept through it. Her eyes closed for the first time in her life, and she was dreaming about being human.
