Chapter #5

Werewolves don't exist... or do they?

    by: Unknown
"Alright Ryan, but you have to promise me something." Jacky said.
"Okay. What is it?" you asked.
"Whatever you see and hear tonight, you must promise me that you won't tell anyone at all. Not even your family." Jacky whispered as we were not alone in the park.
"What do you mean? Are you worried that my parents will be mad for going out with a girl?" you asked.
"Just promise me, because I'm about to tell you something that might change your life." Jacky said.
"Okay I promise I won't tell anyone about what I see or hear tonight. Now what's the big life changer?" you said.
"Okay. Ryan... I'm a werewolf." Jacky whispered in your ear.
You inch back. "Wait, y-you got to be joking with me right? I mean w-werewolves don't exist. They're only in movies."
"No I'm not joking Ryan. I really am a werewolf. I transform at night into a wolfish version of myself. I keep my mind and soul, but my body changes. I do have bloodlust when I transform, but I've been able to restrain myself with years of experience. But I change back during the day looking like what I am right now." Jacky explained.
"I...I don't believe you!" you said. Your fear of werewolves must have gotten out and she heard about it. Maybe that's why she's joking with you.
"I'm telling the truth. You can even wait until the sun sets in about 20 minutes and see for yourself. But I have to warn you that we must be at my house when it happens." Jacky said beginning to drag you along.
"This has to be a joke. There's no way werewolves exist. Please stop joking around." you said in a shaky voice. You two eventually reach a house that covered up by some oak trees, obscuring the view of the whole property from the neighboring houses and possibly making it extremely difficult to see what happens from the street.
"Here is where I live Ryan." she said. You look at the house. It was a common looking house, that looked exactly like the others. It didn't look like it had a werewolf living in it. Besides the position of the trees, the house didn't look didn't look so suspicious.
"Nice place, but why are the trees covering the view of the house?" you ask.
"Because when I turn into a werewolf, I don't want people to see. I really don't want the humans to come for me."
You look at the sky. There's about 5 minutes of daylight left. "She'll probably say something like 'Fooled you! I can't believe you actually fell for that!'" you thought.
"Look Ryan, if you don't want to see it, you're free to leave."
"No way. I still think you're bullshitting me."
She sighs,"You'll see soon enough."
The sun is sinking and you decide to walk over to her and grab her hand.
"The sunset sure is beautiful." you said. Jacky doesn't say a word and has a worried look."Don't look so worried. I'm sure your folks will understand."
"Ryan I...rrrugh!" Jacky falls to the ground and looks like she's having a seizure.
"Jacky! Are you okay?!" you jump back as you see one of her arms pump up with muscle that wasn't there before. Then the other arm. Then her legs thicken with more muscle. You watch in terror as you see the girl that was just dating you go from being human to something you have been terrified of all your life. Her body begins to grow fur that shouldn't be there. You catch a glimpse of her eyes and they definitely aren't human as they look like a wolf's. She still has a human-like body surprisingly, and her hands still look human, but you know right away that what you just saw is what you have feared and you realize now that werewolves do exist. But yet... she's different from what you imagined werewolves to be. She seems to have finished changing and starts to stand up. You just stand there, too terrified to move yet. She stands upright and she's about a head taller than what she was earlier, making her the same height as you. Then she turns to you and says," Now you see the secret that my family has kept for centuries." she said, surprisingly having the same kind and sweet voice from before.
"Uh... um...." you shakily stutter.
Looking confused, she asked,"Do I scare you Ryan? I wouldn't be surprised if I do."
"Uh........ I-I-I a-am scared. B-but not b-because of y-you." you finally manage to say stuttering.
"I don't understand Ryan. If you're not scared of me, then what are you scared of?" Jacky asked with the confused expression she still had on her face.
You finally get the courage to walk to her and grab her hand."I'm not scared of you. I'm scared because I've lived in fear of werewolves all my life."
Jacky hearing those words tears up and begins to pull away from you."I...I'm sorry Ryan."
You hold on tighter to her and she stops trying to pull away. "But... you're different. I... I think I can get over my fear of them by being with you. I... I want to stay with you Jacky. Please don't go." you said.
She suddenly breaks down and starts to cry. It's strange to see a werewolf cry, but you still have the courage to put your arms around her and hug her close to you.
"T-Thank you Ryan for accepting me as I am. I've never been so happy in my life." she says as she looks at you.
"Shh... it's okay. I'm still scared but I think I can get used to you as a wolf-girl."
She laughs,"Don't I look ugly to you in this form?"
You shake your head. "You're beautiful, no matter what you look like."
She tears up again and says," Thank you Ryan. That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me."
The two of you embrace for a long time. After a while, you ask her what she wants to do next.
She thought for a while and then said...
