In Jump city's museum, Mumbo the Magician had just stolen a ancient book. It was an old spell book filled with spells, spells that Mumbo intended to use for his crimes. He wasn't sure what type of spells were in that book, but he was sure he find some useful ones. Lucky for him, the book wasn't well guarded due the disbelief in superstition.
"With this Spell Book, I'll soon have even more tricks up my sleeve! Hahahaha!" Mumbo gloated as held the stolen spell book in the palm of his hands. Though his feeling of triumph quickly disappeared when he heard a familiar voice shout "Titans GO!"
Mumbo turned and saw the Teen Titans charging at him. Leading the charge was Beast Boy in the form of a cheetah, ready to pounce. Before Beast Boy could pounce, Mumbo had disappeared with a puff of smoke. He quickly reappeared in the far side of the room away from the Titans.
"Foolish Titans! You don't realize that I have the key to your demise in my hand. This spell book has dozens of spell for me to try!" Mumbo shouted as he opened the book. Once Mumbo looked into the book, his confidence in victory was gone. The spell book had spells, but no descriptions of what the spells did. There was no telling what any of them would do.
Robin and his team realize that now would be a good time to strike since Mumbo was still in shock. Starfire quickly fired her Starbolts directly towards Mumbo. Mumbo saw the green beams approach him, but he couldn't think straight at the moment. His instincts told him to try a spell and see if it could help him somehow. Without thinking he chanted the shortest spell that he could find. Once the spell was chanted, the star bolts hit the book, reducing it to nothing but ashes.
Even though the book was gone, the spell was cast, and Starfire was the unlucky victim of the spell. A bright purple glow engulfed Starfire. Starfire felt weak as the purple aura grew brighter. Soon she became to weak to stay awake and she fell on the ground. The other Titan rushed over to her while Mumbo took advantage of this as a opportunity to escape.
The Titans carried Starfire back, where Raven began to study her. She spent hours looking through her own spell books and her magic charms to see if they could help determine what was wrong with Starfire.
"Do you know what Mumbo did?"
"I'm sorry Robin, but I can't be sure what he did without the original book it came from. But I can tell that what ever he did wasn't fatal. So far the spell seems to be forcing Starfire to relax. I can't tell why though. The only thing we can do is let her sleep and see if there's anything wrong with her when she wakes up. Maybe if we're lucky, nothings wrong."
Robin and the others only gave disappointed sighs. They were still concerned, but powerless to help her. They listen to Raven's advice and let her continue to sleep. They spent the rest of the afternoon watching her to make sure the spell won't cause her harm.
Starfire slept through the night. The Titans went to bed hoping she would be alright. In the middle of the night Starfire woke up and...
