“Timmy,” a certain 10-year-old boy’s mother yelled that faithful day, “you’ve got to get ready for school!”
“I’m coming,” Timmy replied. He grabbed his schoolbag, grabbed his lunch, got ready for the day and got into the car with his mother. They were on a schedule, and Timmy’s mother did not like being late.
Timmy was a fairly average child. He was of average height for a 4th grader and had average build. He hoped to get into a good middle school once he had passed his grade.
On the way to the school, Timmy’s mother noticed something - dozens of strange objects zooming around, each emitting a strange light. She stopped the car and both she and her son got out. All around them people from different walks of life also stopped and looked at the sight. They stayed there for 5 minutes before the unexpected happened.
Some of the objects cast their lights at the people around Timmy. Everyone started to panic as the lights sucked up those unfortunate enough to get caught in their path. They were sucked up towards the objects and simply disappeared.
“Mom, what’s going on?” Timmy asked with worry in his voice, but before his mother could answer they too were caught in the light. They were blinded by the brightness, and could feel themselves lifting off the ground...
When Timmy came to, he was in a dark room, face-to-face with creatures speaking a strange language. By the way they were communicating, the boy could figure they were possible conducting some sort of strange experiment. He looked and saw someone being held in a chamber. What shocked him was not the fact that this was a stranger, but the fact that their head was separate from their body and yet the two were still animate. By some technological advance not available to humans, these creatures had the means of separating a being’s body from their head and keep both alive. When Timmy turned back to face his captives again, one of them had some sort of device pointed at him, ready for use. Timmy shivered. He knew he would be next...
