"What the hell happened here?" Ino gasped as Sakura and her team walked through the ruins of the missing nin base. Bodies were everywhere and it looked as if someone took a giant wrecking ball to the place.
"Naruto." Shikamaru answered.
"But he was poisoned, he could not have had this much strength left!" Ino retorted.
"Naruto is a powerful guy. Even weakened I could see him pulling this off if he wasn't holding back."
"So where is he then?" Sasuke asked.
"Kiba, Hinata, find him." Sakura ordered.
Kiba sniffed the air. "He didn't get far. He made it out of the base but he must not have had the strength left to go much further."
"Hinata?"
Hinata sweapt the area with her byukugan active. "He's about a mile out!" She yelled excitedly. "He's hiding beneath the root of a large tree."
"Show me now." Sakura commanded in as even tone as she could muster. She was excited and worried. Kiba said he likely didn't have the strength to go any further... She hoped he wasn't too hurt.
She quickly followed after Hinata and in a matter of minutes they were standing at the tree Naruto was hiding under.
"He's there?" Sakura asked quietly.
Before Hinata could answer Naruto suddenly flickered in front of them. He caught Hinata upside the jaw with a left hook and quickly knocked Kiba out with a powerful roundhouse kick to the side of the head.
"Naruto stop!" Sakura yelled. She couldn't believe how haggard he looked. The poison was damaging him worse than she expected. But what surprised her the most was the look of fear on Naruto's face when they made eye contact. He looked absolutely horrified.
Ino attempted to knock Naruto out, but he easily ducked under her blow and caught her in the gut with a powerful elbow. He leaped out of the way just in time to avoid being trapped in Shikamaru's shadow.
"Naruto please stop! We're here to help you. You're dying!"
"I know that!" Naruto snapped. He tried to draw in nature chakra, but he was too exhausted to focus enough to mix it with his own. He grimaced when he noticed Sasuke was with Sakura. It made sense that he would be here to help bring back his girlfriend's slave...
"Sasuke stop him!" Sakura commanded. She was a little annoyed that he hadn't acted yet.
Naruto swore under his breath. He was normally stronger than Sasuke, but right now there was no way he could beat Sasuke while having to worry about Shikamaru and Sakura as well...
"Give up Naruto, you can't win." Sasuke advised. His eyes were different, there was no arrogance in them, he had no aura of superiority radiating off of him. He looked...docile.
Naruto took a calming breath. He could do this. He could defeat Sasuke once he got him one on one.
"Come get me Sasuke." Naruto challenged. He smirked when Sasuke took his bait. He flew through a series of handsigns he had never actually used before. He had only developed this technique in theory.
"Alternate plane no jutsu!" Naruto yelled just as Sasuke neared him. Sasuke looked around in surprise as he and Naruto suddenly reappeared in a space that was white as far as the eye could see.
"What the hell?"
"Now I can fight you one on one...Sasuke." Naruto wheezed out.
"What did you do?"
"A new jutsu I developed. It allows me to summon myself and my opponent to an alternative plane. As soon as I drop the jutsu we'll be transported back to where we were originally."
"You think getting me one on one is going to... OOF!"
Naruto interrupted Sasuke by flickering in front of him and elbowing him in the gut. He had to end this quickly.
