"Are you alright, Harry?" asked Hermione. Hermione was thinking she needed to act asa real friend so Harry didn't have second thoughts.
"It's just that all my life I didn't have any friends due to my cousin Dudley and now I'm famous for something I don't remember and a lot of peeople just want to be friends with me because of it. How am I supposed to know who's really my friend or not? I'm just an ordinary kid who only recently found out that I'm a wizard.
Hermione could see how lost Harry was. He never had someone to guide him right before. He needed someone to tell him what to do, to be controlled. With some prodding, she could be the person that Harry needed to control his life for him, even if he didn't see that yet.
"I understand, Harry. You're right. No one really knows what happened. Perhaps your mother did something that allowed you to have protection after her death and that's what saved you. Maybe you just got lucky."
"You're right, Hermione! That's a good theory. I certainly don't know for sure. I just wish other people would see that I don't want to be known as the Boy-Who-Lived."
"I can help you if you want."
"What do you mean, Hermione?"
"You leave the friend search to me. If I find anyone that can truly be called your friend, I'll let you know. Just rely on me to do that for you."
"You'd do that for me, Hermione? Thanks! You're the best friend anyone could ask for."
Hermione blushed a little at the praise and trust Harry clearly held in her. He was already putty in her hands,
