Kendall drowns his sorrow in sugar pt. 2

Kendall seemed to be developing an addiction to smoothies and kept having Logan going out and getting him some. Over the last three days alone he had some 15 of them. 15 smoothies that came out of Logan's pocket, or would have if they didn't have their own band bank account set aside for them. Logan was talking with Gustavo on having a smoothie machine put in their appartment because it didn't look like Kendall was going to get sick of them anytime soon. At least Kendall's mood was improving. He no longer angrily threw things or yelled at them (which he was scarily almost did better than Gustavo, almost). He also didn't always burst into tears at the mention of hockey, just most of the time when James or Carlos accidentally slipped up. Kendall was getting better and if all went well, would be able to walk again. At least, Logan let him think that. He'd be able to walk alright, but barring an extreme miracle, it would be with a limp and not fast. Kendall's dreams of being a famous hockey player were pretty much toast. At least Kendall could still sing.

"How was Gustavo?" Kendall asked after sipping from yet another smoothie. Logan shrugged.
"You know how he is. Angry, pissed off, called you an idiot and worse names ranting about you for a few hours, the usual. However, he did convince Griffin not to replace you like he wanted to."
"I let you guys down," Kendall said looking ashamed.
"In what way?" Logan asked.
"That stupid accident, breaking my leg, you know. I was playing around and did something I wasn't supposed to and am paying for it. You guys as well since I can no longer dance with you. I'm never going to walk again on it, am I? Tell me the truth." Logan looked at Kendall.

"Truthfully, probably not. It'll be a lame one and twisted. I'm so sorry, you'll never play professional hockey." Kenall looked thoughtful.
"Oh...thank you for telling me. I figured but I needed to hear it out loud to accept it. At least I can still sing right?" He quirked a Kendall grin and Logan felt relieved. He missed that expression. It didn't seem like Kendall without it. Kendall drank some more smoothie and belched.

"Urrp, yeah, that's good stuff. But I wish I could get up and go somewhere, you know? It's getting so that I even wish that Mr. X would come in and have me dance to exhaustion and then have me dance more and cause me to pass out, barely able to move the next day because my body has no more energy. Although, I guess I won't have to anymore, huh?" Logan smirked.

"Carlos is tempted to see if he could break his own leg to get out of dancing like you but I talked him out of it. We don't want any more people injured."
"That's good. Goofball would probably wreck himself more than me if he tried."
"Probably so." Kendall pushed himself up on the bed.
"How long until I can get up of my own accord? I might kill myself if I have to stay in bed any longer." Kendall spoke lightly but Logan noticed a dark humor underneath and he shuddered.

"That's not funny. You shouldn't say things like that."
"Okay, okay. But when can I? Yesterday you said that maybe if I was careful and supported myself on crutches I could eventually be able to at least shuffle around the apartment without being carried."

"Possibly tomorrow but just to be safe maybe you could wait just a little bit longer..." Kendall stopped Logan right there.
"No, I'm not waiting any longer. If it is safe for me to at least move around in this damn room, I am going to move around tomorrow. I get enough bedrest as it is." Kendall finished the rest of the smoothie and threw the cup aside.

"Thanks for doing this," Kendall softly said as Logan picked the cup up. "You're the best." Logan shrugged.
"I'm just doing what I can to make you feel comfortable. We all are."
"I've been a royal prick recently, haven't I?" Kendall said matter of factly.
"No..." Logan said wanting to be polite. But yeah, they all thought he had.
"Don't lie, I know you guys were all thinking it. But I am sorry. It's just been really rough for me lately."
"That's understandable."
"Still doesn't give me the right. Anyways, just wanted to say thank you to all of you but especially you Logan." Logan's heart fluttered a little as he looked at Kendall's expressive eyes.

"Oh," Logan said breathily.

"You'll help me?" Kendall asked uncertainly and Logan knew how much it hurt for Kendall to ask for help. Although Kendall loved helping others, he hated having to ask others for help and was never comfortable with it. Kendall tried to put off asking others for help as much as possible and if Kendall was asking for Logan to help him, it had to be even more painful than Logan thought it might be. Kendall had a good poker face, Katie certainly didn't learn her Poker technique from Mrs. Knight, exceedingly good but wow.

"Of course," Logan said. Kendall smiled a real smile at him and Logan nearly melted from the beauty of it and what he heard next.
"That's why I like you best and you're my best friend."
