Daniel untied Ramona. “We’re going to the mall,” he said.
“I’m not supposed to take you anywhere,” said Ramona.
“My parents will never know.”
“What if they call to check on you.”
“They won’t. They never do.”
“Then I need my clothes back.”
“No.”
“No?! I can’t go out in my underwear.”
“You won’t. You have your jacket.”
“That won’t cover my panties.”
“Then you’ll be covered with a coat. I’ll get you one from my mother.”
Ramona was in no position to refuse. Daniel got her a trenchcoat that reached down to her mid-thighs and he gave her back her shoes. Ramona couldn’t believe she was about to go out dressed the way she was. She grabbed her bag. Then she, Daniel, and Grace walked to the mall, which was only a few blocks away.
