From my hiding place, I could see Katelyn looking underneath some old boxes and as well as underneath and inside my car. Katelyn even had the foresight to pop my trunk open and look inside it to make sure I wasn't hiding there. I fought the urge to snicker at Katelyn looking some place so obvious. I maintained my silence, knowing that even the slightest mishap could spell my doom.
"Hmm, I guess he's not here," Katelyn mused before seemingly turning around to exit the garage.
It was still too early for me to breathe a sigh of relief, but if she actually fell for my ploy, I'd be home free. That's when I heard the sound of a trash bag being rustled and looked through. It was at that moment I had a horrifying realization. In my haste to squeeze into the corner and hide before Katelyn found me, I'd forgotten to put the bag of old clothes back where I had found them. I could only pray that Katelyn would merely mark it off as a coincidence rather than a clue and move on.
Alas, no such luck as Katelyn seemingly smelled blood in the water and began scanning the garage for any sign of my presence.
"Please don't see me, please don't see me, please don't see me," I silently thought to myself, still hoping that some miracle would allow me the chance at victory.
I remained motionless as I watched Katelyn look the room up and down until I saw her eyes settle on my hiding spot.
"Oh no," I thought, having a brief feeling of panic when Katelyn's eyes met mine and she started walking towards me. "Welp... I gave it a good run."
"Come on out, Mr. Robber" Katelyn teased me, "I just wanna put a smile on your face."
Katelyn stopped right in front of me and I felt her finger probe into my belly button. Unable to keep up the game anymore, I burst into giggles.
"Hahahaha Okay Okay ehehehehe you got me hahahahahahaha I surrender! Ihihihi surrender!" I gave up.
"I thought I told you not to put any clothes on," Katelyn said as she pulled me from my hiding spot.
"Well I umm..." I tried to explain.
"No excuses," katelyn said lightheartedly, "Now Mr. Robber, it's time for your interrogation."
