Chapter #6Claiming a dragon is harder than it seems by: Chapelseed Lucy groaned as she scribbled out an idea in a small notebook. Another plan for Natsu to see her as more than just a friend failed yet again... stupid Ice Stripper.
Lucy had wanted to ask Natsu to go with her to a festival in a nearby town, but it just so happened that Gray was in a shitty mood and attacked Natsu because... well just because. He attacked Natsu when his guard was down, and unfortunately, it knocked the dragonslayer out. In silent rage, Lucy summoned Scorpio and blasted the Ice mage with sand. To add insult to injury, Juvia tried to get in the way of Scorpio's attack, but the sand went through her and condensed into heavy clumps that pelted Gray enough to knock him out. Sometimes, the silent victories were the best. She thanked Scorpio, who politely told her that he and Aquarius were on a date for the next few days.
She groaned again as she laid her head on the bar, her notebook to the side of her head. Natsu was in the infirmary being healed up by Wendy, and the festival would be in a few days, but nothing was working!
"Lu-chan, are you okay?"
Lucy popped her head up at the voice and saw Levy at her side. She spun to the side on her bar stool to face her. "hey, Levy-chan, yeah, I'm fine... things just aren't going my way these days."
The blunette giggled. "Yeah, you trying to go on a date with Natsu isn't working out so well, is it?"
"LEVY!" Lucy squeaked in a whisper. "Not so loud!"
"Lu-chan, I've known Natsu since we were kids, and you're my best friend. Besides," Levy pointed behind the blonde. "Someone else knows too."
Lucy felt a cold spell tingle down her spine, and it wasn't from the ice mage Juvia was sprawled over. She slowly turned her head to see her notebook.
Open.
In Mirajane's hands.
And Mira was smiling.
Oh no, not the pleasant smile she gave to all members as a greeting.
This was the smile of a predator. One that had been rearing its head more often these days.
The Shipping Demon had risen once again.
Lucy felt a fear that was worse than any of the monsters she'd faced. There was no way she could get out of this unscathed. "Um... Mira-san, c-can I have that back?" she asked, her voiced unsteady.
Surprisingly, Mira calmly closed the notebook and held it out for the Celestial Spirit mage. "Of course you can, Lucy." Lucy, a bit shocked at her manner, but grasped her journal. Only for Mirajane to pull her close. "But only if I get to help you with Natsu."
'EEEEIIIYAAAAAH!' Lucy screamed in her mind as she was stuck in place. 'I knew it was too good to be true!'
"Now now, Lucy, I can see you've really come up with some good ideas here," Mira said calmly, but a simmer of her demon side's sultry tone slipped through. "but you don't know Natsu like we do."
Levy slid up next to her from on top of the bar. "So let us help you."
Lucy looked at the two of them in surprised fear. Having them help would be great help, but a part of her pride as a woman to get her man on her own lingered in her thoughts. After a moment of deliberation, she... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
