Casa de la Vore, the newest nightclub in Ponyville, and it just so happened to have an opening for a DJ. And Vinyl was all over that, once she found room on her busy schedule.
The building itself wasn't that impressive. In fact if it weren't for the rather gaudy sign over the door, Vinyl would have walked right past it. With but the briefest of hesitation Vinyl walked into the place, Her eyes gazed over the dance floor, bar area, and eventually found their way to the DJ booth, which was built into the wide open mouth of a massive stone head built into the far wall that appeared to be a unicorn with a crooked horn. "Creepy." she muttered to herself. She couldn't tell how to get in there from where she was standing, but she knew she'd find out soon enough.
Vinyl worked her way over to the bar and got the barkeeper's attention. "Hey, I'm here about the opening." The gruff looking earth pony wearing a headset sighed. "You and about three dozen others. What makes you think you're any better than the rest?"
Vinyl chuckled. "Just tell your manager that a "Vinyl Scratch" is here. See how they react."
The Earth Pony put a hoof to his headset and talked into it for a second, immediately after dropping Vinyl's name he winced. Whoever was on the other end was talking loudly. The bartender sighed. "She'll see you. If you walk toward the big stone head, there's a door to the left. That leads to the members and employees only section. She'll be waiting for you there."
Vinyl nodded and walked to the back room to meet her boss to be. Inside is another dancing floor, a door to her right that likely lead to the DJ booth and also several side rooms, each with unusual symbols on their doors. "Probably some members stuff." Vinyl said to herself, "Now where's my new boss..."
"Right next to you."
Vinyl jumped and turned, finding herself looking at a tall black unicorn with a crooked horn and fake insect-like wings. "Oh hey, totally missed you there. Nice outfit!"
The unicorn blinks. "Outfit... yes... I've hard a lot about you Vinyl Scratch. I think you'd be a fine DJ for our establishment. I honestly don't need to go through an interview or anything, your name proceeds itself... So then, let's talk business. I'm prepared to pay you 50 bits an hour and give a full membership during your off hours, sound good?"
Vinyl's mind swam. 50 bits an hour? That's a lot for a steady DJing gig. Plus that full membership sounds like fun. "Sure!!!"
The unicorn chuckles. "Good. We'll finalize your hours later... "
