It was a Friday morning in May and Alex did not want to get up for school. There was still a month of school left and she was ready for the summer. Alex groggily crawled out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. Her head was spinning and she felt way more tired than she usually did in the morning. As she exited her room she crossed paths with her older sister Stephanie who, being a college freshmen, was already home for the summer.
"Good morning Alex," she said cheerily before heading downstairs. Alex grumbled some sort of response before going into the bathroom. Alex thought Stephanie was crazy. She was home now and could sleep as late as she wanted and she chose to get up at 7 in the morning. Alex wished she could still be sleeping right now.
What the crap is going on? she thought as she stared into the mirror. Why is my head pounding like this?
That's when she suddenly remembered the dream she had last night, the voice in her head. It had told her that she now had the power to swap anything with another person as long as she had their permission. It sounded absurd, but maybe, just maybe, this pounding in her head was due to the fact that she had been imbued with this power.
She was dying to know, so she forced herself to get ready as fast as possible so she could see if it was true. Once she was dressed, Alex headed downstairs and took stock of what she had to work with. Her father Jack had already left for work, but the rest of her family was in the kitchen.
