You ran into the kitchen, hoping to find him chowing down some breakfast, but he wasn't there. Maybe he was in the living room watching T.V? No luck. No matter where you went, there was no sign of either your mom or your dad. The garage was full, and there was no note from them, so where could they be? You stopped yourself in the middle of the living room, trying to collect your thoughts and come up with a reasonable plan of action.
What was the problem? Your parents were missing. Was that really reason to freak out? No, but the problem was that they were gone in the same morning that you woke up to find your room looked like you'd recently lost a fight with barbed wire! Where could they be? Nowhere! They hadn't said anything about leaving you alone for the day, and they would have woken you up if there was an emergency they had to take care of...unless they weren't able to?What if they couldn't get to you in time?
Reasoning out wasn't helping at all! You started to pace around the empty house anxiously, too nervous to sit still. If you had sat down, you might have noticed some of the subtle changes in the house. Like how your parents' faces were missing from all of the picture frames. Or that the whole house had become ever so slightly colder. As it was, you were lost in thought until something caught your attention.
