The pair's hug is interrupted by a hiss of static, and a voice coming from a reciever on Tail's work bench. "Come in, Amy! One of Eggman's Robots is causing havoc in Spiral Hill!"
"Don't worry, I'm already on it!" a cocky voice checks in.
Amy grabs the radio. "Alright, Sonic. I'm sending Tails your way to help."
"Tails? When did you start referring to yourself in the third person?"
Amy looks over at Tails, and blushes unsure of what to say. "I'm on my way!" She hangs up before drawing any more attention. "I'll have to be more careful."
"OK, stand over there and I'll switch us back, Amy!" Tails says as he starts preparing the machine.
"Don't worry, Tails. I can handle this!"
"Are you sure, Amy? We can take care of this and then switch again if you want to. We would be more effective fighters in our own bodies. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt because we aren't used to being each other yet."
"This is as routine a job as they come! We'll be lucky if Sonic hasn't crushed the robot by the time we get there at this rate."
Tails considers this point, and excitedly agrees. "Ok, let's get going. Let me teach you how to fly."
Amy squeals and hops up and down, clapping.
"Are you able to move my tails at all?" Tails asks. Amy nods, and starts rotating the tails slowly. "Good, now picture a fan spinning. It needs to be quick, but steady and consi-"
Tails jaw drops as his body lifts into the air in front of him.
"I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" Amy shouts. She hovers around a bit, and circles around Tails as he watched on. "Once I got started, it felt really natural. It's like your body remembers how to do it and I can tap into it!"
Tails smiles. "Amazing! OK, let's go meet Sonic before he wrecks this guy himself." He reaches up, and Amy grabs his hands, lifting him off the ground. Being carried through the sky was a totally different sensation from flying on his own. He had to put his complete trust in Amy to keep them in the air, and not to drop him. He sometimes worried he was holding Sonic back, but he realized just how much Sonic must trust him in order to fly with him like this .
