Ron peered at the final wand in the box. It was different from all the others. It was intricately carved, with the outline of various animals delicately hinted at down the entire length of the wand.
"H... Harry, do you know what this wand is.... do you know what it does..."
"It's beautiful,... but no. Not a clue. -Hmmh- Do I look like 'Mione?"
"It's the animagus wand. It was crafted over thirteen hundred years ago, when the first animagus discovered his animal form."
Ron paused to allow that to sink in, but Harry was still looking rather blankly at his friend.
"Every wizard has an animal avatar... an animal that typifies their character.... and this wand allows them access to it." his voice quivered with excitement, his hands hovered near the wand, shaking too much to trust himself to pick it up.
"I thought there were only a few animagi.... that it was a terribly difficult spell, and required great power and control."
Ron nodded his agreement, but temptation filled his whole being.
"Isn't it dangerous.... It sounds kinda... dangerous." Harry didn't like the look on Ron's face.
