It was dumb luck that Nyx avoided the first salvo. She had bent her head down in a sigh, trying to figure out the best course of action. Without warning, she heard a strange sound, and sparks leapt off of the rocks past where her head had been. Yelping, she looked for the source, and spotted it.
"Target acquired," came the voice from the floating white ovoid. It was held aloft by what appeared to be an intricate propeller design. A red 'eye' glared at her, a matching line emanating from it to her. Two small tubes on either side of it flashed, and Nyx instinctively ducked backwards, as sparks danced off the rocks again. The tubes kept flashing, causing Nyx to duck back more and more. "Target is evading. Accuracy calibration requested," the ovoid said as its tubes ceased flashing.
Nyx wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. This thing, whatever it was, likely knew where Chell's attacker was. Reaching out with her magic, she ripped the propeller off of the ovoid, but held it aloft and pointed away from her. As the thing's red 'eye' tried to track her, she growled at it. "Tell me where whoever attacked Chell is!"
The thing's response, after a few seconds of 'looking' around, was simply "Sleep mode activated."
Snarling at being so callously ignored, Nyx flung the object into a wall. This caused the tubes on the side to flash repeatedly for several seconds, sending sparks along the wall, before stopping. The ovoid's final words were "Critical error." Nyx flushed as she realized she'd damaged the thing too badly. It wasn't likely too answer any questions now. Still, she thought, it might be the evidence I need. I may not have seen anything like this before, but if this... GLaDOS has returned, I bet Twilight would recognize this, to say nothing of Chell.
With those thoughts in mind, Nyx seized the ovoid in her magic's grip. After a quick check around the cave to make sure nothing else was coming, she flew down through the portal to the castle. She paused here a moment to set up a barrier around the portal to keep anything from crossing over. No sense in leaving a back-door to Ponyville for GLaDOS, she thought smugly. With that, she headed back to Ponyville. But the question was, who should she approach about this first? On the one hoof, since Chell was more familiar with GLaDOS, it would make sense to question her first. Her being mute shouldn't be too much of an issue; there were ways around such an obstacle. On the other hoof, Twilight wasn't currently in the hospital being treated for injuries. Plus, she had a line to Princess Celestia in the form of Spike, which would alert the princesses that a threat to Equestria was rising. Where to go?
