This choice: Twilight, angry and scared that she went off on her own. • Go Back...Chapter #7Tartarus Hath No Fury Like A Worried Mother by: HyuugaLord19 "Where have you been?!" Twilight snarled as she stood up from her position at the table. "I just got word from Ponyville General that you dropped by earlier, bringing in Chell, who looked like she lost a fight with a meat grinder! And that you took off without warning afterward!"
Nyx lowered her head. "I'm sorry, Mom. I just... Miss Chell's lost her gem. The one that gives her a voice. I went back to where I found her, trying to find it." It wasn't the whole truth, but it wasn't a lie, either.
Twilight's expression cooled. "Well, I suppose that's fair. Still, you should know better than to be out when there's something out there that can hurt ponies like that!"
Nyx looked up, her eyes narrowed. Twilight's anger faltered at the cool gaze in her adoptive daughter's eyes. "Mom, have you forgotten what my cutie mark means? I'm a shield, something to protect other ponies from harm. And I can't do that without putting myself in danger from time to time."
Twilight blinked repeatedly, then sighed. "You're right, Nyx. It's just... it seems like only yesterday you were a young filly, asking me to read her a bedtime story. Now, the years have flown by, and you're growing up... again. I... I'm afraid I'm going to lose you again, somehow." Tears welled up in her eyes.
Nyx leaned forward, nuzzling her adoptive mother. "Don't worry, Mom. I'm not planning on going anywhere. Not again."
The two embraced for several minutes, before Nyx coughed. "Tell me, Mom, have you ever seen anything like this before?" With that, she deposited the wrecked machine on the floor in between them.
Twilight's eyes widened. "No... no no nononono! This was dealt with, this can't be happening again!"
"Apparently not. I got the story about GLaDOS from Nurse Redheart," Nyx said. "And unless I'm mistaken, she's back, and she wants revenge. Chell's in the hospital because of her, I wager, and the gem's probably with her."
Twilight's expression of fear faded into determination. "We have to inform the Princesses right away! SPIKE!" she yelled.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Spike replied as he came down the stairs, yawning slightly. "What's up, Twi?"
"Spike, take a letter," chorused Nyx and Twilight. They blinked and looked at each other, then laughed. When Spike had retrieved parchment and quill, Twilight began.
Dear Princess Celestia,
I'm writing to you about a matter of grave importance. Do you recall, a few years ago, the menace known as GLaDOS? We had thought her destroyed when the Aperture Science facility collapsed in on itself. However, it would appear we thought wrong.
My lovely adoptive daughter, Nyx, has gathered evidence that suggests GLaDOS is still... 'alive', for lack of a better term. She found and wrecked one of those 'turrets' that we encountered in the facility. Moreover, Chell has been injured, presumably in a fight against GLaDOS. We thought to inform you post-haste, in case she attempts to abduct you and Princess Luna again.
I hope you can suggest a plan of action to deal with this renewed threat to Equestria's well-being.
Your beloved student,
Twilight Sparkle
With the letter finished, Spike rolled it up and sent it in a burst of dragonfire. When he was done with that, he looked worriedly at them. "This sounds bad, Twilight. Didn't that GLaDOS creep capture you and all of your friends?"
"She did," confirmed Twilight. "But this time, we know she's here, and we'll be prepared to deal with her... I hope."
Further conversation was cut off as Spike belched up a scroll in reply to the one they'd sent. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
