"I can imagine that this news hits you as quite a shock." keeping a polite distance, Rachel said. "We were hoping to drop this on you later, after you had time to recover."
"It's a bit much to take in." still crying, I said. "I'm not sure what to think of it but I'm willing to give you a chance, for dad." I then gave her a look of warning. "If you break his heart, well, use your imagination."
Rachel gave me a rueful smile. "Your brother, Aaron gave me the same warning." softly, she said. "I think your father is lucky to have both of you. she offered her hand. "Shall we shake on your agreement to give me a chance with your dad?"
Albeit reluctantly, as I had just met this woman, I sighed and accepted her handshake. Once that was done, I turned to dad. "Have you and Aaron thought of a new name for me?" curious, I asked. "I don't think 'Brian' fits me anymore."
"Well, when mom was pregnant with Aaron, she was hoping for a girl." looking at me, dad replied. "Don't tell Aaron that, though."
I giggled at that then asked, "What name did she have in mind?"
"She liked the name Allison, Ally for short." smiling, dad replied. "I like it too."
"Allison Samuels." considering the name, you said. "Yeah, I like the sound of that."
"Allison Samuels it is, then." smiling, dad said. "I'll get to work on making the name change officiated first thing tomorrow morning."
"So what do we do now?" shrugging, I asked. "I'm too weak to go anywhere right now." I then blushed, seeing the mess on the floor. "Sorry about the mess."
"I've already called to have things cleaned up." smiling, Rachel said. "We'll have to get you cleaned up as well as you were on the floor in your own urine."
"Yeah, I guess I could use some freshening up." wincing, I said. "Who's going to give me my bath?"
"I can help you with that." touching my hand, Rachel said. "I've been giving you your baths for the past six months so its no issue for me."
I sighed. "Fine but I don't want dad in here." blushing, I said. "No offense, dad but... I'm a girl now."
"None taken." smiling, dad said. "I'll go take a walk while you and Rachel get to know each other better."
With that, he walked out of the room while Rachel closed the door behind him. "Okay, let's get you cleaned up, Allison Samuels." smiling, she said.
