"Oh, good!" Mary exclaimed, clapping her hands together, then hugging her equally shrunken twin brother, who only offered a smile in reply. Standing in the palm of their gigantic 14-year-old sister's palm, they tried to peer over and around her to see Wendy plating the pancakes.
"Haha, hungry, Lil' Sis?" Carla giggled some, watching her siblings closely, before very carefully carrying them over to the table, where Wendy had already set plates out. "I guess you two can share one pancake, huh? Okay, off ya go!" Smiling, Carla slowly tilted her fingers over one of the white porcelain plates, intending to give the twins an incline for them walk down. Unfortunately, her fingers tilted a little far, and her hand-ramp was too steep to walk down. Half laughing, half screaming, both siblings went tumbling down the length of Carla's fingers, bouncing over the soft flesh until the fell over the tips of her fingers, and into the middle of the empty plate.
"Haha, be careful, Carla!" Mary called out, helping a slightly more dizzy Jamie to stand up, but still giggling.
"Hey, Carla? Make sure you wash your hands for breakfast, and bring some paper towels from the pantry, too." Wendy was still flipping the last few pancakes, and hadn't been paying much attention.
"Sure, Wendy!" And with that, Carla skipped off to wash her hands. Just as she was leaving the kitchen, the front door opened.
"Hello? Guys?" Catherine called out, looking for her young sisters and brother.
"I'm in the kitchen, Cath'!" Wendy answered, turning her head to smile at Catherine, as she walked into the kitchen. "Want some pancakes? We were just going to eat."
"Where is everyone?" Catherine said, walking over to the tupperware bin of pancakes that were beginning to cool. She hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday, and was starving. If it wasn't obvious by the way she eyed the food, then the way her stomach growled nice and loud made it abundantly clear that she was ready for breakfast.
"The twins are with Carla, getting cleaned up for breakfast. Have a seat!" Wendy hadnt noticed Carla putting the twins on the plate. Hoping to surprise her older sister with her shrunken sibs, Wendy failed to mention their new, tiny stature. Had she known that Catherine was so close to them, she might have mentioned it. How many pancakes do you want?"
"Ohh..how about three? No...four! I'm starving..." Catherine was practically drooling with the smell of the fresh pancakes wafting into her nose, filling her lungs. Giggling, Wendy carried the tupperware with pancakes inside over to the table, and grabbed four pancakes with tongs.
Meanwhile, Jamie and Mary were playfully chasing each other around the inside of the plate, laughing and giggling. It wasn't until the shadow of their enormous sister overtook them that they stopped.
"Hey, Catherine! We're down here, look!" Mary jumped around, waving her hands, while Jamie only stood there waving his own hands back and forth. After a moment, listening to their sisters' conversation, they stopped and decided to wait until Catherine was looking closer in their direction. It wasn't until they saw Wendy walking over, holding a pair of tongues full of pancakes that they realized something was very wrong.
"No, Wendy! Don't put the pancakes on us, we're on the plate!"
