This choice: His football career is up for a boost ! • Go Back...Chapter #7His football career is up for a boost ! by: Wokod "Get out of this locker and train for once in your life !" shouted his captain from the filed. "Peter, don't be a sissy and train !" he added, and from there, Peter heard the cheerleaders making fun of him. He looked at the dictaphone with hope and a mischievous smile. And he didn't know if it was the power in his hand or the knowledge that had tried to invade his brain, but he could almost hear a whisper deep inside him.
Show them, Peter ! Show them who's the best !
Peter nodded. he deserved to be the best. He could be the best. No : he would be the best.
His finger found the record button and pressed it.
"I'm the best player of this team and it's quite easy to see !"
Peter grinned as he felt like his body was solidifying. It was like every single of his muscle was turning into pure, supple steel while his vision turned even better than before, and he could see every single detail of the locker room. No enemy player would be able to escape him. Still, to his disappointment, his body didn't change much. He was bit more defined but... not that much.
Whatever : he had to try this.
"I'm coming !" he shouted as he got out of the locker room and entered the football field. The rest of his team was here, and nothing seemed to have changed, except for the cheerleaders, now indeed shouting his name.
"Peter ! Peter ! Peter ! Give us a P ! Give us a E..."
Alright, this was smelling good. Dwight saw him coming and when he was close enough, talked to him. He was still the captain ? Still, he was looking like he was happy to see him. The teases from before were now from another reality.
"Peter, good to see you with us. The guys told me you were sick in the locker room, but I'm glad you're fine. Okay, team, four of you will try to stop Peter today. It'll be good for him and for you.
- Four on one ? Easy job ! said someone.
- Beware, rookie : you're new here and Peter is the best guy we have in there. So you'd better be quick !"
Peter could barely believe it : instead of being made a fool, he was having praises from Dwight. Maybe he wasn't the worst captain ever... but for now, Peter had better things to think He went to a corner of the field, and the second he tried to run, he could barely believe his speed : it was nothing like before. And it was like everyone was moving slowly around him. He could predict their moves, dodge them without even thinking about it, and win easily at one against four.
Okay, something was clear it had worked. Big time. Now, he was the best player of the team, and anyone looking at their training could tell that he had nothing to do with such a poor skilled group. The cheerleaders were jumping in a corner of the field, now for Dwight, but as Peter looked at them, he noticed behind them, on a bench, Angie !
Peter went to see her, proudly smiling.
"Hey flatty ! What are you doing here ?
- You promised you'd give me back my voice recorder at the end of the day. School day is over, I want it.
- Seriously ? Do you know who you're talking to ? And I said "maybe".
- But Peter, please ! And... did you... use it ? she said, afraid.
- What ? A voice recorder , What would I do with this ? he lied."
But the lie was easy to work : Angie was sure that with such power, Peter would become a monster. She knew it would alter her memories, but hey, a monster is still easy to notice. She just felt stupid to have lost it to the classical super good football player slash bully. Every school has one. He was theirs.
"You're not that sure of yourself, usually, Angie.
- This is because it is important to me ! Now, give it back or I'll tell it to the cops.
- You wouldn't.
- Then give it back. I'll wait for you at the locker room door after the training.
- Alright then !"
Peter smiled and turned back. He didn't want her to be troublesome, but he also didn't want her to have the dictaphone back. He'd just have... to change a thing or two about her. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
