After they had left Greg's room, Donald had slumped down in the waiting room. They were Teri's ride and she would be very upset if they'd left without her, but he was completely drained by his daughter's controlling - and Greg's transformation.
Mary, while also drained by Teri's control - perhaps even more so - was feeling strangely invigorated from looking at Greg. It had been a long time she'd been aroused, and the tingling of desire was giving her anxious energy.
A doctor stopped by "Excuse me - could one of you please come claim your friends personal effects. He had listed you as his primary contact so we'd like you to gather them. They've been left in exam room C."
Donald grunted, Mary efforted a smile at the doctor and said "I'll get them."
She went to the exam room and found Greg's clothes - torn from his unusual recent growth - cut away in other areas, mostly scrap. His wallet, his cell phone, and a peculiar recording device.
She played back the recordings and was treated to a curious stream of strangeness. Something about appearing in Teri's room as a devil, then something about what Teri said coming true, then some weird time travel stuff, then the devil again, then the weird statement about what Teri said being true was repeated, then more weird time jumping statements - then something about transforming himself.
It was the last statement that caught her attention. Up until then she'd dismissed it as the ravings of some perverted lunatic who was clearly obsessed with her daughter. But that last statement was almost a perfect description of what had in fact happened to Greg during his accident. But it wasn't the voice Greg had just had in the hospital room - the deep sexy voice that gave her the shivers - it was his normal voice - like he'd recorded it before the accident. Could he have somehow caused the accident that changed him?
But how, Greg was no scientist - he couldn't plan an accident with a specific combination of chemicals that would change him into... well.... into what he was now. Could it be that recording it caused it to happen? Could this strange device change reality.
Mary looked at it for a moment - and then pressed the record button.
"I'm no longer exhausted from dealing with Teri.", she recorded and then let go - the device sparked and suddenly Mary was fully awake. All her exhaustion was gone. It was the device - recording things made them real. She could regain control of her house from her daughter - and, if she wasn't mistaken, get revenge on the man who had caused all her recent problems.
