"It's a ring." Ben said, flatly. Utterly unimpressed with the simple looking item. It looked like a plain gold band, a man's ring with no details.
"True... true it's strength is hidden. But, it has the power to compel an appeal. If you wish to challenge an exam result, this appeal will always be available for you to call upon. Just slip it on your finger, and you'll inherit the ability to be reassessed."
"Huhn..." Ben snorted, still disinterested.
"I'll allow you to wear it, and if you don't feel empowered and able to sway minds, I'll allow you to keep it, without charge."
With a disappointed shrug, he reached to take the ring from the table.
"No!" Ben barked in agitation. Snatching the ring before Gregg could retrieve it.
As he lifted it up, he saw the metal looked scratched. The letters, the words were in a language he could't understand.
