Lydia's years of practice should have made this an easy problem to deal with; Amanda was just an ignorant servant girl. There's no way she could possibly win this. At least, that's what Lydia thought, until she looked into Amanda's eyes.
What lurked behind them chilled Lydia to the bone. There was rage behind her eyes; a lifetime of being treated like dirt had imprinted a deep river of anger within the outwardly-timid girl. And now, with such power within her grasp, Amanda had a level of determination Lydia had never seen. And unfortunately, that was making the difference.
"No one's gonna' hurt me again," Amanda whispered, as the power continued to flow into her. "No one's gonna' be mean to me, again. I won't go hungry. I...I'm gonna' be in charge. I'll be queen...of everything..."
With a final retch that practically pulled Lydia apart, Amanda was done. The power was all hers. She stood, disoriented, overwhelmed. Her body was practically crackling with energy; she felt like she could do anything.
Lydia tried to take advantage of her confusion to dash for the exit, but she was far too slow. Without knowing her own strength, Amanda grabbed the back of Lydia's neck and tossed her aside.
"Oh...Oh, I didn't mean to do that," Amanda admitted, even as Lydia tried to crawl back to her feet. "I'm sorry."
She paused. She didn't have reason to apologize to anyone, did she? "So, don't make me do it again," she said, much more firm. As she spoke, her body began to grow, filling out even more. She was an Amazonian seven feet tall, and still inching upwards.
"Now. Things are going to be different around here."
