"As things stand you will need an A at least on your Earth exam for a passing grade. What do you say to that?"
"I'm sorry prof, I'm really just not talented with fire magic. As for losing my clothes to a Water Elemental or ripping off skirts with wind, those really weren't my faul-"
"I've had enough of your excuses Kevin. If you don't show up for the Earth exam or fail to get a higher grade than the previous ones I'm making you repeat class. Understood?"
"Yeah, okay...sorry..." you mutter. Then an idea comes to mind.
"I've heard that if you manage to best your instructor in a duel, you automatically get an A on their exam for that class, is that true?"
Professor Ualn freezes.
"Who would tell you such a thing?"
"Er, Laura, in fact..."
"Oh? Am I to understand that you're still hanging around with that troublemaker who despite her excellent grades has almost gotten herself expelled three times already? Mr Kevin, you will really need to learn to apply yourself and choose your friends better if you want to amount to anything inside this institute."
