When you came to you saw yourself tied up on a wooden plank with the witches apparently the class of dark mage.
“Well hello there big boy.”, one of the witches said.
“He looks delicious! Let’s eat him!”, another said.
“We should expel his seed first then harvest his body for a meal.”, another suggested.
“I want the first helping!”, another followed.
“Wait! I hail from the Forest Queen herself!”, you yelled out.
Silence struck them after you managed to speak, the witches deliberated for a while before facing you again. “The Forest Queen was our greatest rival here in these woods. Before she rose to power we fought for control but she won the title and tried keeping us in line.”, the first said.
“Having her knight would give us the energy we’d need to steal her throne away and take whatever she has as ours.”, the 2nd continued.
“Wait! Wait! Just listen! She-“, you halted for a second. Bragging about her rise to power would only encourage them disposing you and letting them take over. So you thought of another approach. “She needs you. The great Coven of Witches. She is going to offer you something better than just territory.”
“Oh? What would she offer that she would discard if it is so valuable?”
“You all, would be the leading witches, of the world! No need to hide any longer. Droves of peasants and monsters would come to you! For your wisdom, magic, your pleasure.”, you prayed they would halt their advances on trying to eat you.
“Sisters let us talk in private.”, one said. They left the room leaving you alone. Inside another room they discussed their thoughts on your offer.
“He lies. He is only saying that to save his own skin.”
“The Forest Queen was ruthless but fair, our alliance allowed us freedom to do what wished so long as we paid a reasonable tribute.”
“So quick to grovel sister? Why not keep that boy for yourself?”
“Sisters this is our only chance to get anything substantial out of a good opportunity. Have you felt the giants and the dryads begin to submit to her rule once again?”, the one who seemed interested in the deal tried making the others see the viability of it.
“Clora you have always respected the queen. This is turning into trouble for our sisterhood. We are loyal only too each other.”
“Alliances have been made to ensure our survival. If we openly oppose we will have nothing.”, Clora said.
“We have grown tired of serving, it is time we rule instead.”, the others all agreed.
“You are all fools.”, Clora said leaving the room.
“Sisters…do you believe we-“
“Yes. Clora will make an excellent sacrifice.”
Clora returned with you trying to convince her you weren't deceiving them, “I swear I am not lying.”
“Silence knight.”, she then waved her hand and suddenly you were free. “I will pledge my loyalty to your queen. But for now we must leave. My sisters will no doubt seek to betray me.”
“Show me the way then.”
Just then, she took you back to the entrance and dissolved the door leading outside. But then the wall formed again. “You two look suitable for the ritual. It has been a long time since we had a human witch union in the cauldron.”
“I would have considered it a blessing if you weren’t forcing me out of ignorance for trying to recklessly grab power.”, Clora called out.
