Chapter #13
She thinks you're a toddler
by: Unknown
The woman grabs you gently by the wrist and lifts you to your feet and out of the sandbox. After dusting the sand off your back and diapered butt, you let out a small squeak as the woman lifted you up by your hips and placed you on her hip, carrying you into the building.
You want to say something. Anything! But you're still too embarrassed to say anything.
As the two of you enter the building, you can hear the screaming and yelling of kids (ages three through six) playing with toys and running around the place. The two also passed a room that had a sign on it, mentioning that it contained infants.
The woman (whose name tag you read says "Jennifer") carried you through the play area until she came up to a desk where another woman (a woman in her thirties with a name tag reading "Susan") was reading a book.
"Hey, Susan." Jennifer said, getting her senior coworker's attention, "I found this little tyke out in the sandbox. She must've gotten out sometime during naptime."
"Naptime"? "Tyke"?! You blush scarlet as you realize that this woman must've actually mistaken you for a toddler. But there was no way! Yes, you were small for your age, but no one could possibly think you were THAT young!
Susan looked you up and down for a bit before saying, "I don't think I've ever seen her here before, Jenny. She must be a new arrival. Did you see her mother or anyone else with her?"
"Nobody." Jennifer said somberly, shaking her head. "I hate when crazy parents just leave their kids without even seeing if their okay! They didn't even get her dressed before leaving her, for Pete's sake!"
You had to agree on one thing: Your mother was crazy for getting you into this situation.
"Well, we'll have to see if we can find her some spare clothes to wear." Susan said, getting up from her desk. "In the mean time, I'm sure our new arrival would like to play with someone her own age. Go put her..."
