Mackenzie heard the loud creaking sound of the tool shed door and her heart began to race. Terrified that one of the Hendersons saw the door open and came to investigate, Mackenzie whirled around and looked to the door.
The good news was that nobody was entering the tool shed. The bad news, the very bad news, was that the door was being pushed closed! Within seconds, Mackenzie was in near total darkness as the door shut completely, blocking out the generous amount of light it had let in. Shortly after closing, Mackenzie heard the tell-tale click of a lock being set. Whoever was out there just locked Mackenzie in the shed! Suddenly, being locked out wasn't quite so bad as being locked in. At least outside Mackenzie had room to maneuver and places to run to should she risk being found. In this shed, however, Mackenzie couldn't even move comfortably in the near total darkness.
Fumbling through the shed, Mackenzie peered through a gap in the corrugated roof to try and get an idea of who was out there. Sure enough, Mackenzie saw the retreating backside of Mr. Henderson as he told his wife that the door must have just been blown open by the wind or something after he forgot to lock it. Writing it off as no big deal, the Hendersons went back inside, leaving Mackenzie isolated once again.
"No no no no no! This can't be happening!" Mackenzie said, panic beginning to set in. "I've gotta get out of this shed. I can't just stay in here forever! I gotta break the lock or something!"
Despite being essentially blind, Mackenzie began to grope around in the darkness, hoping to find some kind of tool she could use to force the shed door open. What choice did she have? So far as Mackenzie could see, the only options available were to break her way out or just sit there and wait for someone to come unlock the shed again. And if someone was unlocking the shed, they'd probably be coming in, and then Mackenzie would have a very bad scenario on her hands.
Groping blindly through the darkness, Mackenzie eventually-
