This choice: Alex calls Ken up to her room • Go Back... “Ok, I’ll see you later. Although I might be a lot smaller the next time I do.” Ken smiled at the thirteen year old girl, walking up the stairs to his friend’s room.
It was funny but he almost didn’t believe himself as he spoke these words to a girl four years younger than him, as if the shrink ray wouldn’t work.
Of course these doubts would soon be cleared as he entered Alex’s room just as she was putting on her shirt, catching a glimpse of the dark blue bra she had on.
“Oops, sorry.” Alex giggled, putting Ken at ease as he walked into her room and placed the box containing his shrink ray on a nearby desk where Alex did her homework.
“So um, why did you want to hang out? You said you had something important to tell me?” Alex smiled, thinking Ken was about to ask her out.
Sure she was a year younger than him, but they had been spending a lot of time together recently and she had begun to develope a crush on him.
“Yea, this is kind of awkward. I-I um need you to do something for me.” Ken said, finding it hard to form words. Thinking Alex might find something like a shrinking gun straight out of science fiction hard to believe.
“Well, what is it?” she said, prompting him to move forward with his question.
“I want you to shrink me.” Ken spat out, trying to get the words out as fast as he possibly could.
“Wh-What?” Alex said surprised, almost yelling as Ken asked her something completely different than what she had expected.
“Yea, actually I need you to shrink me.” Ken repeated, confirming to Alex that she hadn’t misheard him.
“Shrink you? Like in Alice and Wonderland?” Alex teased, mocking Ken while mentioning one of her favorite movies.
“I know it sounds crazy, but I have a shrink ray in this box and I need someone I can trust to use it on me and record the results for my scholarship.” Ken said urgently, getting more to the point.
“Ok Kenny, I’ll humor you.” Alex laughed, knocking the lid off the box and pulling the shrink ray out.
“Wow it’s heavier than it looks, you really put some work into this toy didn’t you?” she smiled, still not convinced of the device’s authenticity.
“Once this doesn’t work, you better tell me what you really wanted to say.” Alex said, still thinking Ken might be planning to ask her out pulled on the trigger.
In only a matter of seconds it became clear to both of them that this device was no toy as Ken began to dwindle away in size inch by inch.
“It’s working, I’m getting smaller!” Ken said as his height fell below Alex’s chest, meanwhile the 16 year old girl was speechless.
She kept her finger on the trigger as Ken passed her navel, exposed to Ken’s naked eyes as he shrunk to a certain level.
“Wow, you really weren’t kidding. If you keep this up then you’ll end up being really small.” Alex smiled again, coming to actually believe what was happening to Ken.
At this point Alex had begun to gain serious height over Ken, standing over him at approximately 15 feet tall in the perspective of a normal person. Of course Ken knew Alex wasn’t actually growing, the fact that her room was also growing confirmed that he was shrinking.
“This is amazing I wonder how small your going to get? Mouse sized? Candy sized? Ant sized?” Alex smiled, making the shrinking Ken grow more and more nervous as she mentioned him becoming smaller with each prospective size.
That’s when he realized that the company offering him the scholarship had never mentioned what size he would be. In fact they had only given him rather simple instructions, point and hold the trigger to shrink.
That’s it! Alex’s finger was still holding down the trigger, he had to alert her before she shrunk him to microscopic size. Of course that would have been easier done before she started shrinking him as he fell below her knees.
“Your finger, move your finger!” Ken yelled, jumping up and down in front of Alex’s Vans as she continued to laugh at him.
“What? My finger? Oops I guess I control your size, my bad.” she said in an apologetic tone, removing her finger from the trigger.
Unfortunately Ken still shrunk further of the next few seconds as the effects of the device lingered and continued to affect him.
Ken finally stopped shrinking at about an inch tall in height, a mere fraction of the size of just one of Alex’s sneakers. It was safe to say that he never expected to be this small.
Just one of Alex’s sneakers were as tall as she was just a few moments ago, and Alex herself towered above him like a gigantic goddess.
“Whoops sorry about that, I almost lost you in my carpet.” Alex laughed, as if shrinking Ken to such a pathetic size was no big deal.
“Ok now let me see what the list says to do first. Just wait here so I don’t accidentally step on you.” Alex said calmly, lifting her foot over Ken and taking a single step towards her desk to reach the box. Ken could see every detail in the tread of his friends sneakers, including a large wad of bubblegum she must have stepped in earlier.
Her foot sent out vibrations through the floor, cause the ground below Ken to shake as if it had been hit by an earthquake.
The massive teen pulled out a piece of paper with instructions and placed the shrink ray back in the box.
“Ok says here there are several main exercises/tests I can perform with you. Oh this one seems like fun, I’ll start with this.” Alex smiled, turning back to face Ken on her floor. The shrunken boy not liking the ominous tone in her voice.
Why didn’t she just tell him what the test was? What kind of game was she playing?
1. Alex lifts her foot above Ken and teases him for a few minutes about stepping on him, keeping the secret that his body was nearly indestructible until the last moment when she brings her foot down on him. Alex would follow the directions on the sheet to the letter and grind Ken into the carpet under her sneaker, unknowingly trapping him inside the bubble gum she stepped in earlier.
2. Ken find himself being lifted up by his gigantic friend and decides to kill two birds with one stone by bringing Ken to her sisters room. There she tapes him down to her sister’s favorite seat, hoping that she be successful in embarrassing her in front of Ken and completing a test. The test in this scenario would be having Ken survive the weight of a normal person sitting on him.
3. Alex instruct Ken to run from her while she tries to chase him down, this test calls for Ken to be stealthy at his new size and evade capture for a set period of time. But how will Alex react if he fails? Will she move on to the next test or find some way of punishing him to encourage better results.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
