Up close and impersonal

Running deeper into the shoe,Alex slowly ran past clumps of sock lint several times bigger than her.She wasn’t getting anywhere,and the socked toes were quickly gaining on her.It was only by sheer luck that the floor tipped under her and she fell the rest of the way down,landing just in front of the crater left by Ian’s middle toe,moments before said toe came down to fill the space.Alex began to panic as the air grew stuffy with the heat and smell of her crush’s socked foot.She was trapped in his shoe and Ian didn’t know.She couldn’t even try to get his attention because she was smaller than the dust clinging to his socked toes,and even then,Ian hardly even knew she existed.She liked him being unaware of her so she could admire him,but now that fact was coming back to bite her.

Struggling not to have a panic attack,Alex screamed when her world shifted.Intense g forces pinned her to the smelly insole,and then she was suddenly floating up to the roof of the shoe.Before she could grab into it,the foot hit the ground,and she fell back onto the floor.Ian just took a step! Acting fast,Alex grabbed onto a piece of lint to stop getting thrown around.it helped shield her from the massive impacts of her crush’s footsteps,but they still rattled her.She held on tight and wondered what was going to happen to her.
