Holding meetings at the Gordge office building was beginning to become something of an issue. Despite several renovations over the part of the past three years, and a major overhaul once Jenna took over as branch manager some years before that, it was becoming painfully clear that there just wasn’t a way to rally several incredibly obese office women and squeeze them into that tiny meeting room. They’d tried it just last month to do the quarterly review, and the results were disastrous. Everyone was cramped, there weren’t enough chairs for everyone to sit down in and almost none of them were wide enough for them to use, it got really hot and muggy, and everyone tried to peel out of the room at once—meaning that Victoria got wedged in the doorway with some of Alice’s belly and her left boob.
Since then there had been some talk about another renovation, but in the meantime they’d been using the office floor as their makeshift meeting room. Jenna would announce that there would be a meeting over the loudspeaker and then she’d call everyone’s attention to herself once she managed to trudge her way out of her private office.
She had become a painfully large woman after working in such a sedentary job for so many years, no doubt combined with her natural penchant for overeating and underexerting herself. While several of the women working under her were explicitly obese—Alice and Courtney were getting to the point where they couldn’t ride the elevator together—Jenna had steadily remained the biggest, fattest woman in the office.
“Attention everyone, please?” Jenna’s deep though distinctively feminine voice soared over everyone’s cubicles, “Just a quick little meeting and then everyone can get back to work.”
Christina pushed back, rolling herself out from her desk and turning the swivel chair outwards. Her stomach rested gingerly on the seat of the chair between her legs, separated in the spacious cavern created in its accommodating design. Around her, Christina’s coworkers did the same with varying degrees of difficulty as the office purred with the various fatty grunts of exertion.
“I know, I know, but it’s important.” Jenna mistook the chorus of groans as begrudging her for calling them to attention on a Friday (which, granted, some of them might have been)
Jenna had put on a distinct amount of weight since Christina had arrived, which was really saying something. She had not been exempt from the steady gain that gripped almost everyone in the office, having put on at least another hundred or so pounds in the few years that Christina had been working for her. Her great stomach swelled outwards past arms’ length and dipped down to her knees, making any trip an impossibly difficult trek for the big beautiful branch manager. Her breasts, enormous mounds of soft womanly flesh, always looked ready to pop right out of any of her custom-fit business suits (Christina had often hypothesized that this was intentional). Her face, doughy and round and chinned three times over, was framed by her stylish brown bangs—an attempt at making her puffy cheeks seem less so that failed miserably—and her hair was often pulled up into an updo to reduce heat on her back neck-roll.
“Hey, yeah. Right here.” Jenna waved a heavy arm that swung with flabbiness, “Just… phew…”
She lowered her enormity onto Victoria’s desk, causing it to creak ominously despite its solid construction. By the time she was confident that she had everyone’s attention, Jenna had completely lost her breath. Standing at her size, as well as the arduous trip from her office all the way out here, was exhausting. So she continued while sitting on Victoria’s desk—which worked out great for Victoria, considering that meant she didn’t have to listen since Jenna wouldn’t see her on her phone.
“I’ve…phew… I’ve been branch manager at Gordge for a long… long time.” Jenna said resolutely as she folded her hands on top of her gut, “And in that time I’ve seen it grow and prosper and… pretty much just kick ass until we became the most profitable branch in the country. When I started here… Gordge South was the… the top dog. But thanks to all our hard work, it’s us. We’re awesome. You’re awesome and while I’m… really sorry to say this, I’m leaving.”
There was a slight rabble, causing Jenna to raise her chubby hands in a call for pause
“I’m not leaving the company. You’ll probably still see me every now and then. I’ve been promoted to corporate, which is… well it’s a huge honor for me. I’ll be staying until the end of next week, but after that I’ll be packing up and I’ll be out of here. I didn’t tell anyone because… well, let’s be honest here, this is just really painful for me. I’ve really come to… really love all you guys and I’ll always miss being your boss. And Carrie’s homemade brownies.”
A chuckle from the crowd.
“We’ve still got a whole week for goodbyes, but I just wanted to wish everyone good luck. I thought I’d take this time to announce my departure, but also to announce who’s gonna get the Big Girl chair and a private office once I’m out of here. Would you please step up here—
