Though still weak and prone to twinges of pain, your leg is all but healed and you are celebrating by taking a walk about the facility. Until the disaster it had been a exclusive private hospital, though the army had since commandeered it for treatment of the few surviving men they had been able to find. You have yet to see these men. They are being kept isolated in other wings of the hospital until it is proven they are truly immune to the deadly form of the disease.
The once pleasant gardens and lawns around the hospital have been churned to mud by the army vehicles now camped there. Only a small garrison is stationed here what with the army's (wo)manpower stretched so thin. A crude metal fence has been erected about the perimeter beyond which you have been forbidden to go beyond.
As you walk through the hospital grounds, enjoying the fresh air, something catches the corner of your eye. You turn just in time to see a woman in dark fatigues dart out from behind a parked ambulance, run in a low crouch towards the hospital and vault through a window.
At the same time, you hear a commotion. Raised voices. Then gunshots. A small explosion booms. There is a roar of an engine. An armoured vehicle smashes through the boundary fence, its mounted gun unleashing a stream of gunfire. The encamped military vehicles and barracks are torn apart. The attacking vehicle accelerates faster than a thing that huge has any right to do, bearing down on you. You try to hobble out of its path.
Its huge tires kicking up clods of earth, the vehicle overtakes you, narrowly missing you and turns sharply, screeching to a halt and blocking your path. As the turret lays down suppressive fire, a group of black-clad soldiers leap from the rear, the laser dots of their rifles dancing over your chest as they fan out to surround you. They shout to each other in a language you don't understand. "Hands behind your head, now," one commands.
"Deja vu," you mutter under your breath. With the wound in your leg still fresh, you decide it best to comply. They slap handcuffs on your wrists and bundle you into the troop transport. You are placed in mesh restraints. The soldiers sprint off towards the hospital. The engine roars, jostling you with acceleration. The noise and shudder of the turret is all around you.
There is a female soldier seated across from you with a pistol trained on you. You search her uniform for identifying markets. It looks like she belongs to...
