This choice: "I thought it might be kind of fun" • Go Back...Chapter #7A nice light meal with a glass of wine. by: Unknown (Credit goes to Thiel-kun, the original writer of this revived chapter)
"Well, I just wanted to do something to help out. Besides, I heard a gourmet chef would be cooking, and I really wanted to try some great food." Rena said, smiling and watching Thiel cook away, a nice sized piece of fish sizzling away in a naked pan with a light coating of lemon zest and fresh ground white pepper. The light smells made her tail whip about and a barely audible purr escape her throat.
"You flatter me. I'm not quite gourmet, but I've got a few years of culinary school under my belt and I studied under two separate renowned chefs. I hear they've been working at a hotel recently." He replied, deftly slicing a green onion before adding it to the fish and wafting the scent towards his nostrils. Nodding in a satisfied fashion, he pulled out a tray of small, crispy bread slices from a small oven beneath the kitchenette and slid it towards Rena. "Want one?"
Taking one, Rena took a small bite, her eyes lighting up in bliss from the nibble. "Wow...what is this?" she asked, finishing off the first one and nibbling on a second.
"Toasted bread with a sugar and lemon glaze. I always find crispy bread to be a good start to a good meal." Thiel replied, flipping the fish with a swift motion before pouring a glass of white wine for Rena, scooting the glass over to her and smiling. "Just a heads up: The wine was bottled here and the supplement is inside. I just wanted you to know to avert any little questions about where it was."
Nodding, Rena took a sip of the wine, watching Thiel scoot the fish onto a nearby plate and begin to deglaze the pan with another white wine, reducing it down to a pale sauce. Pouring it onto the fish, he smiled. "One slice of Pollock with white sauce for the young lady." Thiel said, smiling and taking his hat off, sweeping into a bow. "I hope you enjoy."
Starting on the light meal, Rena's eyes truly lit up as she ate. Easily the most delectable fish she had eaten, she still took her time out of respect. Before long, the fish was gone, the toast was eaten as a small dessert, and the glass of wine had been drank.
===============================
(I'm going to take a page from the two much more admirable writers that work on most of the other arcs in this story and give the two choices ahead of time with a bit of what I hope to see and how I think it should go as a bit of advice.
1. The supplement functions as a metabolizer, causing a larger portion of the food to be stored as fat, which means the project was funded by the military for people stationed up north. Rena is told that since she is the only person who signed up, she will have to stay at the facility for further testing. Of course, this also means more gourmet meals.
2. Nothing happens, apart from a slightly upset stomach from more upscale food than Rena is used to, and she returns home. The supplement is still there, though, and could possible cause something...odd to happen.) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
