Chapter #7

Viola Road

    by: Unknown
Lydia comes in, grumbling to herself. "I can't believe they didn't have any job openings," the weasel giantess mutters. "At this rate, I'll be evicted and Helga will be laughing at me. I'll have to rob a bank just to keep Azure pleased." Elisa gives a smirk at Lydia and Lydia looks at her in confusion. "Why are you looking at me like that, Elisa?" Elisa gives a snort. "We might have found you a job, Lydia." Lydia blinks. "What kind of job?" You give a nervous look. "Being a delivery girl for a restaurant." Lydia gives a scoff. "Are you kidding me?" she asks. "That's demeaning." "It beats being homeless," says Elisa. "We just met somebody who can hook you up with a job." Viola waddles her fat butt up towards Lydia to investigate her. "Hmm," says the minotaur. "Name?" "Lydia Kama." "Age?" "23!" "Special skills?" "Magic." "Are you licensed to drive a vehicle of any kind?" "Does a bicycle count?"

Viola lets out a sigh. "Well," she says. "To be honest. I've seen better resumes, but anybody is welcomed to work at Neo Neapolitan. Goodness knows, those boys of mine need all the help they can get." Suddenly your eyes pop. "Neo Neapolitan?" you ask. "Wait. You're Allen, Wes and Norman's mom?" Viola nods her head. "Wait," says Elisa. "Then you're Corona Poe's mother as well." Viola gives a scoff. "Well of course I am," she says. "How many other minotaurs do you know with a surname like Poe. I gotta tell you, those three boys are always getting themselves into trouble. But they're not stupid enough to argue with me." You could believe that. Arguing with one's mother was a terrible idea. Especially when she was a 1300ft high minotaur built like a sumo wrestler.

Lydia just lets out a sigh. "Azure will kill me if I don't reimburse her. I can't really be picky. You got yourself a deal, Mrs. Poe." Viola nods her head and then walks away. "Meet me in my car. I think I can convince Patty and Wes to hire you. If Wes proves stubborn, I'll just stomp him. That always sets the record straight." Lydia just gives a grumble. "Me," she says. "A talented sorceress. Forced to deliver fast food." Lydia goes to follow Viola and you and Elisa stare at each other. "Do you think that she'll be able to earn enough money to pay back Azure for the damages in one week, Elisa?" Elisa just lets out a sigh. "One week delivering takeout won't earn half that much in a month," says Elisa. "We better follow her. She'll need some help."

Elisa takes you and follows Lydia and Viola to a strange looking jalopy of some kind. "That car is ancient," thinks Elisa. "She can't seriously think about driving it." Viola sits in the driver's seat while Lydia sits in the passenger seat and Elisa squeezes into the back seat as you sit on the tip of Elisa's snout. Viola opens the glove compartment and to Lydia's surprise, reveals an older male human sleeping inside. "Up and at them, Sterling." Says Viola to her husband. Viola's husband springs up and then notices Lydia and Elisa. Before he can say anything, Viola covers his mouth with one of her fingers. "In case you're wondering. These girls will be filling in for Pam until she's back on her feet." Sterling looks at Lydia nervously. "Are you sure that's a good idea, Viola." Viola gives a scoff. "Direopolis is full of kooks, Sterling. One or two more won't make much of a difference."

With that, Viola starts the car and drives away on her way to Direopolis. "Is Neo Neapolitan a particularly popular restaurant, Viola?" asks Elisa. Viola nods her head and moos. "It's the most popular restaurant in Direopolis. Mainly because of its unusual menu. It helps that most monsters in Direopolis are large women with larger appetites." "So your sons and their wives make a lot of money." "Theoretically, yes," says Viola. "But a lot of times they have to give a chunk of their cash to Mia." "Mia Maza?" you ask. "You mean the handy woman? They need her, that much?" Sterling nods his head. "Yes." Elisa gives a gulp. "That's not a good sign. Uh, out of curiosity, how did Pam get injured in the first place."

Sterling rolls his eyes. "She was delivering pizza to one of the regular customers, a mad scientist and on the way out, she took out an unlabeled elixir from the fridge and drank it. It turned out to be an experimental rocket fuel that exploded as soon as she drank the whole thing. She's lucky to be alive but she'll be in the hospital for some kind." Lydia gives a scoff. "What kind of idiot would drink from an unlabeled vial?" "The sad part," says Viola. "That's not nearly the dumbest thing she's ever done. Then again, Norman was never any brighter." You start to think maybe this wasn't a good idea. Lydia even bites her nails.
