At first it was a scuttling sound then it was screaming that woke Maria. She was still sleeping off her meal of tiny passengers and was half awake when she looked around to see what was happening. She nearly screamed when she saw it. A spider the size of a Saint Bernard had crept into the terrarium that kept them. Her first instinct was to protect her kids but realized even though it was big, it wasn't bigger than her. The same thing couldn't be said for the passengers though. To them, the spider was the size of a house. Maria stood up and walked over to the crowd panicking from the creeping arachnid.
Maria sat down on a rock and watched. Like a curious child, she watched the spider pounce on a man and bite him. His screams died down as the creature liquified his internals and drank him dry. Either being so tiny or delicious, it moved again to another person, this time a eom pan who twisted her ankle trying to flee. Maria watched her beg for her life to a creature who's only thought was "tastier than a fly".
She was turned into a shriveled corpse in under 10 seconds. As the spider closed in on the now trapped people, it had ensnared a poor girl around 7. Her mother screamed for help. The people punched the spider to no effect. It was simply too big. The hysterical mom yelled at Maria to help them. Maria smiled and walked over to them. Her tiny footsteps vibrated the plastic floor. "You want my help. Fine, I'll help you if you worship me and my children like gods" she said. The people balked at this. "You're crazy lady!" a man shouted. "Crazy enough to let you become spider food. What's it gonna be? Spider chow or slavery?" Maria asked. "I'll be your slave just save my daughter!" the mother cried.
"What about everyone else?" Maria asked. The crowd nodded their heads defeated. Maria kicked the spider as hard as she could. Her pregnant belly jiggled with the force of the kick. The spider flew only a foot but to the people it was like a mile. The spider took the hint and crawled out of the terrarium. "Remember your promise or you'll wish that spider ate you" Maria said walking back to her sleeping spot near her kids.
