A Very Big Hugo

Your jaw drops as you take in what you are seeing. Just last night, Hugo was your typical German Shepherd, with his size ranging among the usual maximum of his breed. Now, though, an impossibly huge dog stood in his place, easily bigger than the tallest horses!
You close your unbelieving eyes.
Were you going insane?
Or was there really an elephant-sized dog in your kitchen?
You take a couple steps forward and extend your right hand towards the huge canine. Hugo, seeing this as a hand (or rather, paw) shaking gesture, took one step forward and put an overlarge paw over your palm.
It was real.
Pure, rough paw-flesh.
"Excuse me, Hugo," you said as you started down the stairs, "I'm not ready for this... insanity..." At the bottom of the stairwell, you spotted a bag of medium-sized dog food, waiting to be emptied. Sighing, you took the bag upstairs, where Hugo waited, still giant, still unimaginably huge. The dog backed up his huge body, watching you pour his food into his bowl. Then, with a sudden voraciousness, the dog (whose body took up a third of the large dining area) lunged his oversized maw into his dish, the blue bowl moving with the motions of bigger jaws. When Hugo is finished, he looks down at you, whimpering loudly.

What exactly does this oversized mutt want?
