Ruby was sitting at her desk when she heard a knock on her door, immediately followed by Ageha Kurono walking in the room, without waiting for so much as a response. Normally, Ruby would have found that rather rude, but considering the circumstances, she let it the matter drop.
Instead, she greeted her guest warmly. "Hello, Kurono-san. Please, have a seat," she said gesturing to the chair in front of her desk.
"Thank you, Ruby, but please, call me Ageha," she told her as she took her seat, her ankles crossed as was her want. Despite her early resolve, she couldn't help noticing that Ruby was wearing open toed high heels and felt a brief desire to have some "fun" with the young witch's feet. Her pushed that thought away as Ruby resumed speaking.
"Of course, Ageha," she said slowly. "I suppose we should get started;you're no doubt wondering why I called you here?"
"Yes, all your message said was that it was something concerning Kurumu. Tell me, what's happened to my daughter?" demanded Ageha.
Choosing her words carefully, Ruby answered; "For the past week or so, Kurumu has been skipping classes and club activities. In addition, her grades have been falling too."
That puzzled Ageha. Certainly, falling grades and skipping class was more than enough reason to inform a parent. However, it didn't explain why Ruby had to tell her this in person, nor did it explain why the poor girl looked so uncomfortable with this conversation. "I'm guessing there's more to this than just poor academic performance."
"Well, you see, it's a little...er...complicated-"
"Out with it!" shouted Ageha, who was rapidly losing her patience. "I want to know just what is happening with my daughter."
Not wanting to upset the clearly angry succubus any further, Ruby simply blurted out "there have been a serious of minor thefts around the academy over the past week or two."
Asked Ageha, "and you think Kurumu is the thief?" That didn't sound like her daughter.
"We know it's her," said Ruby.
"How?"
"We found the stolen items in her room," answered Ruby. "But it's worse than that."
Ageha raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"To begin with, we hadn't suspected Kurumu at all; we thought the items were stolen as a prank. However, when her homeroom teacher, Miss Nekonome, went to confront her about her poor grades and attendance, she found Kurumu not only with the stolen items, but, using them in an inappropriate way."
A cold shiver went down Ageha's spine. "Ruby, what did she take?"
"The some shoes of her female classmates and friends." Ruby blushed. "Including a pair off my own."
Ageha could not have been more stunned if hit by a sledgehammer. "She was smelling and licking the shoes, wasn't she?"
Ruby nodded. "I don't know how to tell you this, but Kurumu has been neglecting her education in order to steal shoes and get some strange, gratification out of them. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but based on my own research, I've concluded that Kurumu has developed a foot fetish, an uncontrollable one at that." She was slightly curious to how Ageha knew what her daughter had been doing, but didn't dwell on it.
Ageha was horrified, she had never dreamed something like this would happen. Not that she was concerned about Kurumu developing a foot fetish, she'd always known that would happen sooner or later. What really concerned her was that Kurumu had been caught in the act. That the entire species had foot fetish for female feet was a closely guarded secret of the succubi. Having an out of control succubus put that secret in danger of being exposed. If that ever happened, the succubi would be the laughing stock of the entire monster world. Not to mention what it would do to Kurumu.
Ageha cursed under her breath; at the end of the day, the only person she could blame was herself. Had she warned Kurumu years ago, like she should have, the girl would have been on her guard and none of this would have happened. True, she had done experiments to see if Kurumu had the fetish (leaving her shoes out, walking barefoot around their home), but when she'd gotten no reaction, had simply assumed that she would develop one later in life and come to her mother when it first appeared. In hindsight, that was foolishly naive of her. So lost was she in her own thoughts, she'd barely noticed what Ruby was saying.
"...but if we can get her proper treatment, then maybe she can-"
"I'm sorry, Ruby, but did you day treatment?"
Ruby gave her a look. "Yes, the academy has connections to some very well established institutions. They can take Kurumu immediately if need be, assuming you give you consent of course. Once there, they'll doing everything in their power cure Kurumu of her fetish."
"But treatment, surely that's completely unnecessary," asked Ageha.
Ruby had a grave look on her face. "Normally, the academy tries to be as understanding and accommodating as possible." She let out a sad sigh. "But in a situation like this, we can't let this go when it's not only harming her education, but causing her to break school rules as well. I know this must be hard for you to hear, but the truth is, Kurumu needs help."
"I was afraid you'd say that," Ageha said with complete sincerity. As a mother, Ageha couldn't let Kurumu go through that, not when the mistake was her's and her's alone. Nor could she risk the succubus secret being exposed. She knew what she had to do and the worst part, she was going to enjoy doing it.
"Um, Ruby, forgive me if this sounds strange, but who else knows about...er...Kurumu's condition?"
Ruby gave her a warm smile. "I understand why you asked; you don't want her to suffer any stigma from this unfortunate experience. I get it, Kurumu is my friend and I feel the same way. Other than you two, no one else know about this other than Miss Nekonome and myself. You don't have to worry, we've kept this quiet. I give you my word"
"Thank you for that, Ruby," said Ageha, as she discreetly pulled her feet out of her shoes.
