As you get ready at your station you hear a familiar annoying laugh. "I'm telling you, it's true. A kitsune born with only eight tails. It's the truth girl." "Good grief." You groan. That would be Rachel Tuna, a tanuki who comes in once a week at Primordial Earth. The woman was an incurable gossip who always had her nose where it didn't belong. Though otherwise she was perfectly harmless.
However, there was one thing you hated about Rachel. That thing you hated about her was the fact that she was friends with Cattleya, your battle-axe mother-in-law. How a sweetie like Maggie came out of a crumb like that splinter cat was a mystery you'd never be able to solve. That's when you heard the door open and Rachel came in. "Hi Prima," says the tanuki giantess. "Atlanta. Neil." "Hello Rachel." Says Atlanta.
However, you turn your head and almost scream because this time Rachel didn't come alone. Following behind was none other than Cattleya herself. "Oh no." You groan. Cattleya immediately notices you and cracks a smirk. "So you do have a job, Neil. I'm impressed. And in case you didn't notice, I'm being sarcastic. Don't think I don't know why you really work here." "Cattleya," you mutter. "I thought the air was a little smoggy, but I guess it was just you opening your mouth.
Cattleya lets out an angry hiss and bears her fangs. "It's been over twenty years and I still can't believe Maggie got saddled with a loser like you. I certainly didn't raise her to have that kind of bad taste." "Oh really?" you ask smugly. "Guess she takes after her father in that regard." Cattleya meows angrily and the Splintercat is just about ready to smash you into paste, but pulls her hand back. "You'd so be a snack right now if you weren't married to Maggie." "Whatever you mean-spirited crone." You say back at her.
Cattleya lets out a sigh. "What are we doing here anyway Rachel?" asks Cattleya. "I haven't been to a spa in centuries." Rachel lets out a laugh. "Come on girl. Take care of your nails once in a while, those claws can desperately use some pampering." Cattleya looks into her claws and lets out a sigh. "Fine." She says.
You really don't want to work on your mother-in-law's nails and cross your fingers to hope that doesn't have to come to it. Who does Prima assign you to?
