She Ignores You and Gets Back to Jogging

    by: ThePencil Author IconMail Icon
After a few seconds, the serpopard woman just dips her head politely as a greeting and continues on her way, making a few earthquakes as she goes. You on the other hand were still confused, was she a mute? Or just didn't like talking? You had heard that she was very introverted, just not like that. Well, regardless, you are at least glad she didn't eat you... or worse. Shrugging, you proceed to drag the newspaper back inside. After crossing the hallway, you hear a commotion, Maggie was probably on the phone, agitated. You were about to go ask her what happened when a wide blur just dashed past you towards the door. As you stood there, mouth agape and hand raised, stupefied, your daughter peeks from the kitchen, looking surprised herself. "W-wuh... what was that all about?" you asked the teenage mer-lion as she came into full view.

"Dad? I think Mom is going to be very busy today. Something about a serious situation down at the precinct. She said it was very important." Sapphire walked to you and picked you up, gently. The look on her face was that of worry. "Is she going to be okay?" Rubbing her finger soothingly, you give her a smile, putting her at ease.

"Don't worry, hun, I'm sure Maggie can handle it, she's a nemean lion, she'll be alright." putting on a mocking yet stern face, you put your hands on your hips and look at the titanic teen. "Now then, isn't it time for you to head on to school?

"Aw, but Da~ad! I woke up early! At least let me finish my breakfast!" and with that, the two of you chuckled and walked back to the table, so she could finish her sizeable meal and you could have yourself your morning cofee.

The rest of the day passed as a blur, you accompanied Sapphire to school, dropped her off, took a cab to your job, since Maggie took the car with her, and managed to get there on time for your shift. Atlanta gave you some minor trouble as usual, something about the television at the salon not working and you having to go inside it to see what was up. Fortunately, Prima had to step in before something bad would happen to you, the last thing she wanted was for her only decent employee to get fried by a short circuit. For your credit, though, you managed to do everything they asked, and got out of it relatively unharmed, so no problems there.

Nothing, however, could prepare you to what was coming in the evening.

After you made it back, in the early evening, you arrive to find Sapphire waiting for you, she always arrived first, and normally she would've entered the house by now. Odd, she seemed worried. Seeing you arrive lifted her spirits, and she walked up to you and picked you up, rubbing your tiny self against her fuzzy cheek. "Hey kiddo, how was your day?"

"Dad, did you hear the news?" when you shook your head in the negative, and explained that the TV at the salon was busted, Sapphire got even more worried. "They announced it at school, some government agents went there, something about an 'outbreak' at the precinct!" she was getting too anxious, so you did what you could to calm her down.

"Woah, easy, girl. Deep breaths. Okay now, what's this about an outbreak at the precinct?" you ask, your tone serious. Taking a few breaths to calm herself, your giant daughter explains the situation.

"They interrupted the classes to tell us there was an outbreak at Mom's workplace and they had to take precautionary measures. They also brought some medics and nurses to the school, all male for some reason, and had us inoculated with some antivirus or something." as she finished and let you ponder the news, she sheepishly asked "...Dad, is Mom going to be okay?" Giving her a reassuring half-smile, you gesture indoors, and the two of you proceed inside.

After setting down her backpack and sitting on the large sofa, she places you in her shoulder and you rub her neck. "Honey, I've told you, didn't I? Your mother is tough, she can handle herself pretty well when she's in a pickle. That is not to say I'm not worried about her, I am, believe me, all I'm asking is for you to have some faith in her. She's the town's Sheriff, remember? Here, let me tell you something that happened a while back, when she first began working there, she-"

The sound of a car parking in front of the house forced you to stop your story short (you were just about to start it, too), and both you and your daughter turned your heads to the door. There were muffled voices outside, two of them, feminine, but slightly deep. Sapphire looks at you perched up in her shoulder, tense. "Is that Mom?"

Loud, heavy steps filled the hallway as the door opened, and in walked your wife and a weretigress you recognized as Prussia, the town's Marshall. Your wife huffed and panted, as well as Prussia, as she noticed you and your daughter. "Hi Neil. Busy and awful day, you wouldn't believe it." Seeing your shocked faces made the town Marshall chuckle, whereas your wife only sighed. "Just let me sit down, I can explain all of this..."

Except, 'all of this' was referring to how huge the two adult felines have gotten. Maggie plopped herself down on another couch, her unitard barely holding together, as her bulk had increased exponentially, her gargantuan belly covering her whole lap with flab, her massive thighs and butt spreading out like butter on the double seats, and her huge cleavage poking out from the leotard, having gone a few cup sizes. Her arms were now pillowy and even her fingers had become poofier. Her double chin, which gave her a round, but lovely face, had swelled even more, and you could notice another chin forming under her second chin.

Prussia merely leaned against the wall, groaning as she tried to cross her arms over her titanic bosom, her predicament the same as your wife, except she had a lot more in the chest department than Maggie, her cowgirl outfit full of visible tears and openings. You could've also sworn she was slightly taller, and by extension, Maggie as well.

A shocked silence filled the living room, but Sapphire gradually worked up the courage to ask the question that was boiling in your head. "M-Mom? What ha-happened to you and Ms.Kipling?" Maggie gave you both a reassuring smile, and patted her sizeable dome of a stomach.

"Honey... Dear... there was an outbreak of nebutori at the precinct. Someone was caught by Prussia here smuggling illegal items, and while she was... 'distracted'..." she glared at the weretigress, who in turn began whistling a made up tune, looking away." the crook managed to slip a vial of that junk into her shell. After they escorted her to her cell to deal with the proceedings and called me, she made a makeshift smoke bomb with some more tools she had slipped past the inspection. When I arrived and they were about to take her in for questioning, she blew the damn thing up, and escaped. She is now at large."

"And we... we're stuck like this, large. The whole precinct, plus some more folks who were there, were affected. I still can't quite get how that no good, dirty, sneaky excuse of a kappa managed to escape without even suffering the effects of this crap!" Prussia growled in a low voice. Her voice roused you from your shocked stupor, and you turned to her.

"Wait, why are you here as well, Prussia?" She was about to retort something snarky, but Maggie cut in quickly.

"Had a little... accident with the car, Neil. It's currently undergoing repairs. I... ugh, I kinda grew when I entered the car to give that kappa chase. Prussia was kind enough to offer a ride back here, since I can't walk that far without having to catch my breath, and her car is roomier and sturdier than ours. And now she is about to leave, aren't you?" once again, she gave the striped feline an frigid glare, to which the obese Marshall mumbled a low 'yeah'. Without even turning to look at you three, she muttered a goodnight and left, surprisingly not slamming the door on the way out.

Sapphire got up, walked towards Maggie and set you down on her (now flabbier) shoulder. You began rubbing her fur, and she purred at your contact. "It's gonna be okay, dear. Sapphire and I were worried sick when we heard the news, but at least you're safe and sound." the young mer-lion nodded. Maggie kept purring, until suddenly her eyes shot open, and she stared at Sapphire, panic practically written all over her face.

"No! No no, Sapphire, I just remembered, you have to get away from me, nebutori is highly contagious!" her outburst startled you and your daughter, surprisingly affecting you more than the youth herself. With a shrug, she rolled up the sleeve of her left arm to show a spot with a bandaid on.

"Mom, I was inoculated at school. I don't think I'm going to be infected anytime soon. I don't think it will last forever, but the school is taking precautions to prevent this from spreading. Or so we were told." at this, you remembered what Sapphire told you earlier. Maggie calmed down after hearing this, but was still agitated. "It's been a long day, Mom, Dad. I think we all need to get some rest, this is just too much to take in."

"Sapphire's right, hun, a hectic day deserves a nice meal. Although..." you eye her adipose-filled belly before continuing. "...we might have to make a larger portion this time." Maggie just grunts in annoyance, and you playfully rub her shoulder with your hands.

With your touch calming her down, and Sapphire starting to set the table for dinner, your bloated wife just sighed. "...this is going to take a lot of getting used to..."
