You discard everything but the jack. Feeling a bit more confident, you pick up four new cards from the top of the deck and you observe your new current hand.
Your recent additions turn out to be two queens (heart and clover), one spade of nines and one spade of sevens. You cautiously flash a nervous smile, as you flip your hand over to the other four girls, revealing your weak one pair hand. However, even though you only managed to score one pair, you still hold a small glimmer of hope in your mind that one of the others had drawn a weaker hand than you.
One by one, each of the girls table their cards while carefully eyeing their opponent's hand as well. Unsurprisingly, your hand wasn't the strongest after all, as Sunny's deck had managed to score two pairs of twos and threes. Fortunately for you, Serena had the worst luck of the draw, nowhere near close to a single pair. In fact, out of the five cards she picked, it looked like the jack of hearts was her highest card which still wasn't that impressive since everyone else had a single pair. It wasn't necessarily a strong round for anyone but most of you were happy they got through.
"Well," Sunny boasted, suddenly raising her voice. She was holding up her two pairs up for everyone to see and causing Serena to slightly frown, "Would you look at that! "
"Geez," you say, letting out a little laugh in the process, "You don't have to show off Sunny!"
"Sorry. I got a little carried away," Sunny apologized.
Over on the other side of the table, you watch as Serena takes off her hat, placing them neatly onto the table. Ellie notices as well, taking a good look at the straw hat.
"I wish I brought a hat with me," Ellie grumbled to no-one in particular, now looking at Sunny's gloved hands, "Or gloves. It feels unfair."
"Didn't you tell us earlier that you were wearing a shirt underneath your sweater?"
Ellie blushed in embarrassment, "I must've forgotten about that Clem. Ignore my previous statement."
After a brief moment of gathering everyone's cards, you and every other girl around the table are immediately given a new hand to work with. Will your luck change this round?
