January Jones arrived to the small, fashionable coffee house just as Christina did. The two hugged and greeted each like old friends, which they were. Christina made it a point to keep up with her old Mad Men co-stars. Some it was just to keep the connections working. Jon Hamm was always good for a tip on some fun small part in something, which Christina never minded trying out for. January, though, was a good friend.
"Did they renew 'Good Girls'?" January asked as they traded updates on their careers. "I kept hearing mixed things."
"They did," Christina said. She already knew January's recent Netflix project had been cancelled. But Netflix cancelled things all the time. "Do you have anything new lined up?"
January took a sip of her drink, looking thoughtful. "A few things. I'm not hurting for work-"
"Of course!"
"-but having a steady series to go back to, that's something I miss."
"Well, none of them last forever. I figure we have another season left."
Nearby, somebody took a picture of the two. January scowled, her usual reaction to paparazzi. Christina looked in the direction, smiled slightly, and even instinctively stuck out her impressive chest. She didn't mean, it was just her reaction to pose if she knew she was being photographed. She blushed and turned to January with an embarrassed chuckle.
"Sorry, my inner attention whore always takes over."
January laughed, too. "I'm sorry, it's going to look like I'm mad at you in the pictures or something. But who cares? I try ignore anything about me that turns up in the media."
"I try, too, but it's tough, you know?" blushing again, Christina admitted. "So I put on a few pounds, some random nobody said it looked like I had a gut."
"Oh, you do not," January said, and Christina was pleased and validated by how annoyed January sounded at the very idea. "You look amazing."
Christina smiled, glad for the compliment. January looked thoughtful, though. She crossed her hands on the table.
"What is it?" Christina asked.
"Well..."
