Chapter #5

Dawn of the First Day

    by: Bird Author IconMail Icon
You awoke before dawn, while the library was still nice and empty, the perfect time to take into account what you had and what you needed.

The "camp" was looking a bit sparse; a ruffled up blanket and a pile of supplies under the shadow of "Werewolf Lovers IX" was all to your name. The ration you had for breakfast was gone, too, leaving enough food for a few more days at most. Water was looking even worse, as you'd severely underestimated how thirsty you could get in the dusty shelves.

Ripping out a piece of notebook paper, you began to scribble a list. First and foremost, water. You had only enough for the day, and doing anything would be impossible without staying hydrated. You knew you could get water from the bathrooms, but they were on the far side of the building, at least a day's trek if you were being cautious. A hole was rusted through the metal, revealing the wall behind it. And, more importantly, revealing a thick power cable that connected to an air conditioning unit somewhere above. You can't help but smile. At least something's going your way.

Half an hour later, and you had descended the cord to the ground. Next time would probably be faster, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Looking around at the darkened shelves that surrounded you gave you a bit of a rush. Yeah, this was difficult and a bit of a pain in the ass, but it was an adventure! Pulling out the list again, you took the pen and circled:
