White light and sound erupted from the end of the gun, engulfing the building you occupied. "OH SHIT!" You manage to exclaim as you feel a tingling on your skin. The device was designed to spread the energy of its beam evenly across the target to ensure it stayed in proportion. Due to this, however, it would shrink anything in direct proximity to the target, provided the connected object wasn't so large that the energy couldn't disperse over it. The gun could not, for instance, be used to shrink the planet, nor could it be used to shrink something as large as a skyscraper.
The problem was the fact the science department wasn't a sky scraper, it was barely a three story building with 40 class rooms. Whatever effect the beam was having on the building, it was having it on everyone inside, as well. To make things a larger problem, there was no way to tell how much your size could be altered by, as you would change relative to the building.
The third and final problem was the most interesting. The device hadn't been in the hand of anyone effected by the beam. Normally the transposer, if used to effect the one holding it, would change size with them, ensuring a way to return to normal. But with the gun going off by accident far from the target...it probably was going to remain normal size. You take a deep breath as the light begins to fade, fear washing over you. That gun could have been set to ANYTHING when Tina threw it.
"What's going on!?" Tina shouts, you suddenly realizing you'd been ignoring her. Without answering you approach the window Tina threw the gun out of to find that the lab, and all of it's occupants.....
