Montana rises in panic once again at the curious noise. She rushes to the window, following the growing noise outside as more sounds join in. People shout and cry at not just the unusual hum, but at the now visual warping of time and space. A column of white light, a thin, vertical beam one thousand feet high, glowing purely, brighter than the sun rises from the earth on the opposite side of the campus.
"It's happening! It's too late!"
You join the professor at the window, all eyes on the illuminated scratch cutting through the sky. People below freeze and alert others. Their shadows are eradicated by the omnipotent brilliance of the interdimensional pillar. Slowly, it widens, becoming more and more rectangular, taking on the form of a doorway.
"What's going to come out of it, Professor?"
She has no sure answer, but humanoid silhouettes appear as shadows against the white canvas. They come through into our dimension with another step forward.
