Knowing they had a long night of fun ahead of them, the girls started Holly’s bachelorette party with appetizers and wine at a outside of the boardwalk restaurant. They talked and laughed about the good old days. Holly’s bridal party (Christy, Shelia and Melanie) were happy that ‘Nicki’ could make an appearance.
After 2 glasses of wine, Holly made a quick speech. She thanked the girls for coming out tonight and looked forward to having a good time. She thanked her friends for planning the evening. She kept going on and on about friendship when Melanie finally interrupted, “Boring! Enough with the speech Holly! You are just stalling. Go ahead and ask Nicki so we can get this over with and hit the clubs! I want to dance!”
Everybody was silent and stared at Nicki. She was confused, “Uh…ask me what?”
Holly took a deep breath and smiled, “In case you hadn’t noticed, our bridal party is a bit uneven between the groom and bride’s side. I know you really wanted to be in the wedding so John agreed to make you a groomsman. But you barely know him.” Holly gave a cutely smile and said, “You know me much better right? Wouldn't you rather be on my side?”
Nicki’s eyes got wide, “Wait a second. Are you asking me what I think you are?”
Holly continued, “You know I’ve always wanted a perfect wedding. Now that John’s cousin Tim was added to the wedding party last minute, there is an open position opposite of Tim as girl if you are up to it. What do you say? It would really mean a lot to me…..” Holly gave another cute smile and added, “….I promise…It’s a really cute dress….You will love wearing it..”
Nick was shocked that his sister asked him to attend the wedding as a girl. However, Nick didn’t know John, his cousin Tim or any of the groomsman for that matter. It would be a much more exciting and fun wedding if he was one of the girls and hanging out with Holly and her friends. Honestly aside, Nick didn’t mind becoming ‘Nicki’ to spend time with Holly and her friends. It was always a great time. Knowing that doing this would help make his sister’s special day, Nick finally agreed, “Sure. That sounds like fun! I’ll do it for you Holly!”
The rest of the girls all shrieked in happiness. Holly hugged Nicki, “Really? OMG? I thought I would have to beg you all night! Thank you so much for doing this! You are the best brother…uh…sister in the world!”
Melanie pointed to her phone, “I have the website open now. We have to order your dress now so it arrives in time for the wedding.”
Holly was happy that Melanie was staying focused on her Maid of Honor duties. Melanie looked at Nicki, “Okay. Just to make sure. You are up for this? Once I click to buy the dress, there is no turning back. Are you sure?”
Nicki nodded again, “I’m sure. This will be fun. I’ve never really dressed up fancy as a girl before. It will be something new.”
Melanie made the purchase and looked up, “It’s final! The dress will be delivered in 2 weeks! Just in time for the wedding!”
