Seven white geese landed with grace in the clearing, shook their feathers and lined up in a row to face Queen Hannah, who stood gaping in amazement.
The mages , however, were totally annoyed.
"Well, what do you want?"
"The first Goose, the leader for this moment, {for as you well know, geese take turns} pecked at the mage and turned to speak to the Queen,;
"Oh great Queen of Stark lands, long have we flown and borne witness to the trials of this kindgdom. Mages, it is true, give allegiance to none, but yet truth can be tricky to interpret. We are the 7 as the mages are 3 and all must be heard for the return to peace."
The second goose was preening her feathers and at the end of the line two were squawking to each other. The smallest, one was roosting, tired our from her journey. It was her first since she replaced the old one.
"Silence", the mage said in annoyance. 'You geese are so.. oh just.get on with it."
"In time," replied the leader, setting her gray eyes on the mages. "Now, some refreshment would be nice."
Hannah and the mage just shook their heads.
"Oh and if you would look from the tallest tree there, out to your right, you will find a band of rebels camped. And not Martell , but the Night's Watch! Just in case it matters to you. Though again, we judge them not and cannot promise not to squawk there..."
"oh Right" piped up a much younger goose from behind. "they would be more as like to shoot first and listen later if we just flew in there. They have little trust in such as us--given all they have seen. Though they are not the worst of the Houses."
"Hush, squawked the elder and pecked his beak. Would be chastised for lack of manners and objectivity.. You will need to work on that, if you would lead some day."
"Oh sorry" he bowed in neck in submission.
The mage laughed, "there you see Hannah, such are the wise ones of this world! ha!"
"Spells, Queen, there be spell casters about, and disguised, so be warned." The lead goose
turned away, heading toward the lake as the others followed.
"Wait!" commanded Queen Hannah. But the geese were already lost in the mist of the waters. " Well' she mused, turning to the mages..
