As you analyze the mysterious artifact you’ve found, you faintly hear what sounds like something slithering up behind you. You turn your head a tiny bit, and, surely enough, see movement in your peripheral vision. You immediately panic, instinctively jumping away-- narrowly avoiding getting pounced on by a massive Serperior! She turns to you again, and leaps at you! You fall onto your back, clutching the mirror against your chest.
“No! Stop!” you scream.
You squeeze your eyes shut, expecting to be swallowed up by the Serperior at any moment… but it never happens. You cautiously open your eyes to see the Serperior stopped in its tracks, not moving a muscle. You noticed she was staring blankly into the mirror, her eyes foggy. Confused, an idea enters your mind. “Uh… back away?” you command quizzically, and sure enough, and the Serperior immediately backs up to the other side of the room, still staring blankly into the mirror. You suddenly realize what the artifact does. It can hypnotize other Pokemon, making them do whatever you say! You almost jump for joy. You had finally found a magical artifact! You lay there for a moment, imagining all the things you could do with this.
You giggle at the Serperior, still just waiting in the corner, gazing into the mirror. “Not so tough now, are ya?” you taunt, poking the Serperior’s nose. She doesn’t respond. Curiously, you see what happens when you turn the mirror away, so the Serperior can’t see it. She immediately gets her senses back, apparently realizing what you were doing. “Hey! Put that away!” she demanded, leaping at you. You pulled the mirror back up, and she immediately stopped in her tracks again, hypnotized. “Ah ah ah! You’re not in charge anymore, I am!” you giggle.
You turn the mirror away, and she droops her head, defeated. “Now you’ve got to do whatever I say, alright?” you say. “Hey, don’t look so glum-- we’re gonna go on adventures together! Won’t that be fun?”
“Curse you...” she mutters under her breath, as you hop cheerfully towards the exit of the cave, glad to have finally have another teammate.
