This choice: Cassandra comes to say hello • Go Back... Almost as if by cue, Cassandra appeared. Cassandra was still beautiful and tiny. She was dressed in black, her eyes were blue and sparkling. Cameron felt very uncomfortable as her mother squeezed her hand before leaving. "Looks like its just you and me. I am sorry to hear about you and Megan." she revealed. "It's not over, yet." Cameron retorted, though without as much conviction as she had hoped. Cassandra watched her, shaking her head. "You will find it difficult to reconnect with her, especially in light of your changes." she noted. Cameron nodded, admitting this was so.
"You should know that your ex-roommates were talking about what it would be like to know in you in the biblical sense. I told them that you weren't anything special. That seems to excite them rather than scare them off. Ed was particularly aggressive. You may have to watch out for that psychopath." she observed. Cameron shivered at that. "Look" Cassandra began, squeezing Cameron's hand. "You can count on your cousin to help you dealing with these things. And as your roommate, I will tolerate you, not making any snide comments about your current condition."
"Gee, thanks!" responded Cameron, sarcastically. "Ally warned me that you would me exceedingly emotional. You remind me of my ex Greta. She too could get upset at the drop of a hat!" remarked Cassandra. "Wait, Greta isn't a guy's name!" gasped Cameron. "I would have thought that having become a lesbian yourself, you would be more tolerant. Unless you're not a lesbian." she quipped. "I like only girls!" exclaimed Cameron, squeezing Cassandra's hand shaking. "Then you need to make that clear to people. Many will wonder. And perhaps you will have to accept you aren't the only one who likes girls!" she pointed out. "I...I'm sorry about that! I mean....was it....I mean...Sorry, I didn't know you came out!" stammered Cameron.
"You know now! That doesn't stop male college students from trying to "fix" me. And you will have to work to make sure they don't try it to you. My advice is to give up alcohol. I have done so. I also never go to a party without a friend. These are free tips for you." she offered. "Ok, thanks for the advice. Cassie, I'm sorry about things ending with us." declared Cameron. "What happened between us is over, Cameron. Now we will get along as friends. I will let you get some sleep, you seem tired from our discussions!" she stated. All Cameron could do was nod. As Cassandra left, Cameron wondered about how much worse this could get. And when could she get back on train, especially with Megan.
"I see your other ex was here!" declared an icy voice as Cameron's eyes began drooping. Her eyes widen a little to see Megan. Megan remained the same beautiful girl she had been except her stomach was different. Cameron could see the swelling of life inside her. "H-Hi Megan!" stammered Cameron. "Hello Alan or is your name Cameron now?" she responded. Her tone was far from welcoming. "It...it's Cameron now!" Cameron struggled to answer. Why was she so nervous?
"How has your sex change been?" continued Megan. Cameron felt anger flare up, but she managed to keep herself steady as she answered "Between the hormones and the dread of periods, pretty horrible thanks!" "You can have periods? How is that possible?" she asked, surprised. "The sex change was not a transgender thing, but an actual change with a real vagina and I have a uterus! Megan, I'm a real girl!" squealed Cameron. "And whose fault is that? My Dad is looking at up to 15 years of hell because of you, you bitch!" she roared.
"If your father...." "My Dad was already aware of the problem! He was working on it, he had plans to fix it the next week! He even sent reports asking for more funds from his employers! But those bastards claimed he was an embezzler! And now my parents are divorced and my Dad is in the injury ward of prison! And its all because of your clumsiness! If you had listened to me and been careful, I wouldn't have lost everything! After a few months of being unable to see you, I got drunk at a tavern and woke up passed out on the floor! Some arsehole drugged me! Instead of compassion from being raped and impregnated against my will, I've become the laughing stock of Yale! They are talking of kicking me out because of fees! And it's all because of you!" interrupted an angry Megan.
"I ended up a girl, so..." "Look at you, you bitch! You're better looking than I am! Your punishment is good looks and longer life! Mine is my whole life is turned upside down and I didn't do anything! And you haven't even apologised for your stupidity!" retorted the furious, pregnant woman. "I didn't do it deliberately! I didn't know about the damn railing! And the blame lies with your Dad's bosses and your rapist, not me!" responded Cameron, equally emotional.
"You know what? I came here, expecting an apology and maybe we could be friends! But now I see the truth! You're no different to Bill and Ed! Well I hope you enjoy your new circumstances, because I won't rest until you end up as miserable as me!" exclaimed Megan, storming off. "Good riddance, slu*!" yelled Cameron back. "What a cow! What did I ever see in her!" thought the new girl. "I see that you and Megan really have split up!" noted Cassandra. "She's such a cow! I can't believe I dated her!" declared Cameron.
"I hope you didn't upset her too bad, cousin! Her sister is the head of the sorority that I'm pledging!" stated his cousin Sandra. "Hi Alan, you look great!" teased Kevin, Sandra's boyfriend. "Dude, don't!" responded Cameron, wrapping her arms around herself. "We should talk about your former roommates, Cam!" responded Sandra. "Why would I do that?" enquired Cameron. Sandra looked at Cassandra, not sure how to proceed.
"We heard them talking about their plans for you, Cameron. They were talking about how to get you into bed. Ed suggested getting a girl to help them!" revealed Cassandra. "Why would they....those arseholes!!!" screamed Cameron. "Calm down, Cam!" replied a shocked Sandra. "Those two jerks are trying to get me into a honey trap! My so called friends! How could they?" squealed Cameron. "Honestly they are acting no different from usual! They have always been jerks!" stated Kevin.
"All of you need to go! Right now!" bellowed Cameron, her anger overwhelming. Sandra and Kevin moved away as quickly as possible. Cassandra stayed motionless. "Leave!" shrieked Cameron, staring angrily at her ex. "No!" replied Cassandra. "I SAID LEAVE!" roared Cameron. "Your anger is based on your pain. Accept that the pain has passed, Cameron. You are a girl now. And the soon you accept that, the happier you will be!" she countered. "I SAID AHHHH!" cried Cameron as she clutched her belly. Cassandra reached for the phone, calling the nurse immediately.
Cameron thought she would die. Every muscles spasmed and she felt searing pain, somewhere private. After crying and screaming for what felt like an hour, the medicine finally kicked in. 'The first one is usually the worst. Don't worry we have cleaned up the mess!' revealed the nurse. 'Mess? What mess?' whimpered Cameron. 'From your period, Cameron!' explained Cassandra in a dead pan manner. 'Wait, what? That....that was a period?' squealed a terrified Cameron. 'Yes, dear. The next one will be much easier.' Added the nurse. Cameron slumped against the bed as the nurse fixed his sheets. 'Do you need anything else?' asked the nurse. She could only shake her head. 'Buzz me if you need me.' she declared as she winked at Cassandra. Cassandra blushed at the nurse's attention, but looked out the door as she left.
'When you're done, checking out my nurse's bu*, maybe you could, I don't know, HELP ME!' roared a terrified Cameron. 'And how can I do that? I can't stop you from having periods!' she observed. Cameron bit her lip trembling, before tears flowed like champagne. Cassandra sighed, wrapping her arms around her ex as she bawled. 'I'll never have a girlfriend, have kids or be SAFE! My life is over!' she bawled. Cassandra rolled her eyes as she held the hysterical woman. 'You will be safe, get a girlfriend and have children. Men aren't the only ones to do those things!' she reminded her. 'But I will have to get pregnant!' whined Cameron. 'It's called artificial insemination and you can also adopt. And that is possible for you to do with a wife rather than a man!' She pointed out.
'But I am going to be ogled by men!' she continued. 'You are also more attractive and will age slow and live longer. Sandra and I will help you through periods, Pap smears and breast exams. I have a female gynecologist that you can visit. As for unwanted male attention, that's the price of great genes. Besides isn't Megan's baby, your baby?' observed Cassandra. 'She says no.' 'Cameron, she blames you for how her life went to pieces.
She is hardly going to risk you taking away her only joy, a beautiful child. You will have to decide how to proceed later. For now, you need to rest.' she proposed. 'Thanks Cassie, you have been a true friend. I...I am really sorry about how things ended with us!' she apologised, glad to have a friend. 'That is the past. A new future awaits us both. Sleep well, Cameron.' Cameron watched her leave the room, her heart thumping hard. A horrible realisation hit her. She wanted Cassandra back.
Trying not to think about it, she turned on the TV. The Legend of Korra, Book 5: Renewal was on ((http://archiveofourown.org/works/3677295...). Watching Bolin struggle with witnessing the death of his great-grandson made Cameron feel tired. "I wish Cassie and I could start over!" she thought as her eyes closed. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
