I also don't want to be on your bad side. So ill tell you what ill do something extra for you, ill clean the office or stay overtime" I try to negotiate with her
"Hmm. Nah I think I'd rather see you kiss my feet" she says
"C'mon Denise can you be real. You and I both know I'm not going to kiss your feet"
"Woah there, speak for yourself... I'll tell you what though, I have a lot of work today moving all my stuff to this room and getting settled in as manager today. I’m going to be staying late, I'll allow you to be my assistant, do errands for me, and stay late here with me incase I need extra help."
"Okay, I'll do that" I say kind of elated she stopped with the whole kissing the feet thing.
"Maybe if you impress me enough, you won't have to kiss my feet" She joked
The rest of the day I had to clean up certain areas of the office, I had to rearrange the messy closets, I had to get Denise multiple coffee's and pickup her lunch. Denise never said thank you but I feel like our work relationship was building in the right direction. It seemed she was appreciative of the extra work I was doing even though she wasn't showing it.
I was supposed to leave at 5PM along with the rest of my coworkers but Denise had me stay alone with her and do more work helping her.
At one point around 5:30PM she asked me to grab her another coffee from the Starbucks across the block.
"Okay" I said ready to go grab it
"Hold up, last time you went you took 25 minutes, this should take you 10 minutes max. You're probably using your phone and buying yourself things distracting yourself and wasting time. So I want you to leave your phone wallet and anything else on you here"
"It took 25 minutes because there was a big line before" i said
"I dont believe that for a second, now empty your pockets and go" she said
I'll be honest i did take my time last time so i just agreed and left my phone wallet and she even made me leave my car and house keys with her, not sure why but i didnt really ask. She gave me $10 for the coffee and i was on my way.
When I came back i handed her the coffee but she didn't give me back my stuff and I had no idea where they were. She said theres no need for the extra distraction of my phone, she will give it back when we leave. I was kind of annoyed she was withholding my phone and personal belongings from me.
She gave me some paper work to do for another hour until she called me in her office.
"I'm ready to go home now, are you?"
"yes!" I got exited we were done for the day
"Okay, I just need you to do one more thing for me before we go" she says as she stood up and walked up to me barefoot and pointed down at her feet
"Kiss" she says boldly
"What? you said if I do all this stuff for you and stay overtime I won't have do to that..."
"No I didn't, don't put words in my mouth! I said if you impress me ill consider not having you kiss them but you did not impress me"
"What the fuck is wrong with you, I'm not doing that"
"Oh yes you will or not only will I fire you but you're not getting your phone, wallet, car keys, or house keys back"
I didn't even know what to respond to her, I wanted her to know I’m not backing down but at the same time I wanted her to feel bad and just give me back my things
"Please, stop! I can't do that" were the only words I can come up with
"Thats enough! I want to go home already! I'll give you 10 seconds to get on your knees and kiss my feet or you won't be allowed back in the building tomorrow and you won't be getting your belongings back.
I quickly weighed my options.
1. Allow her to belittle me and kiss her foot - allowing me to keep my job and not have to stress about losing my belongings
2. Refuse to let her mistreat me, don't kiss her foot - however I would have to find a way into my house without a key, let alone finding a way home without a car or wallet to pay for a cab, and would have to buy a new phone as well as having to freeze all my credit cards, get a new id, and lose all the cash in my wallet.
Was the second of kissing her foot worth all the trouble?
