Let it be known that Tom was never the sharpest tool in the shed. He wasn't stupid by any means, but his judgement calls weren't necessarily the best when he was angry. Case in point when he found his giant cry daughter in the woods and thought the best course of action was to approach her and give her a piece of his mind.
Unsurprisingly, that turned out to be a very bad decision. One that could possibly prove fatal if he didn't play his cards right. He couldn't even really get his rant going as he quickly found himself being cut off and scooped up off the ground like an action figure. It was a pretty apt description considering that what he was compared to Lucy.
Her grip was like an anaconda's vice and he fought hard to not let the pain show on his face as he was brought up to meet hers. She was upset clearly, and her red eyes and tearstained cheeks only served to highlight that. She wasn't happy to see him and the feeling was mutual. He wasn't happy to see her either.
"What are you doing here!? Why did you follow me!?" she asked, or more like shouted. Her voice was far too loud. Louder than it was when she was small.
"To have a picnic!?" Tom fired back sarcastically. "What do you think!? I came out here to bring you back!? We're not finished yet!"
Luke watched the events unfolding from behind a bush with bated breath. This Tom guy must not have any self preservation instincts because he'd walked right up to the giant girl without so much as a second thought. Did have some kind of death wish?
"Yes we are! I told you I'm bigger than you and mommy! I don't have to listen to you!" Lucy spat.
"Disrespectful little brat! Did you just forget who the hell I am!? I am your father and you will show me respect!" Tom snapped. "When I give you an order, you follow it! When I say jump, you ask how high!"
The exchange between the pair only grew more heated as time passed. Digs were taken, threats were thrown around, and even personal insults were used for good measure. These two hated each other, and that was plane as day for Luke to see. He didn't know how this would all end, but he remained ever curious.
